Default My car feels not Z-ish...

My car feels like after 4500rpm that it wants to almost fall flat on its face at full throttle.... what the crap?!? someone help me out here... I have almost all the basic bolt on's done and breathin mods and even got the ECU reflashed? Is it who did my reflash, or could it be that with all this better breathing its about time for cams?

hrmm thats weird, most of hte vqde's dont fall flat until right around redline then it goes all to hell. you should still be peaking at 4500.

as long as they dont break, performance wise they work just as well as better quality brand names.

Do you have LED tailight bulbs or the ebay LED tail lights by any chance?

no haha, i don't have LED tail bulbs.... the only recent thing I've done is put in a full infinity/eclipse stereo system, but like it's felt good before, and nothing performance wise was touched... only thing I can think of is to better ground the engine and all just cause of how much more power is going through the chassis maybe???

you have a tactrix/laptop to log? i could take a look at your maps if you did that.

its probably because of your tune.... i'd say you were pulling time because on subaru's (or turbo cars in general) this can happen if the EGT's get too hot and the comp pulls time.... but I dont know why your car would be pulling time

I don't have anything to log it... I guess I should, but I sent my ECU off to Altered to get tuned, where they said they tuned a guy on 91 octane gas with the same mods as mine and gave me the same tune, and I run 93 to make sure it doesn't retard my timing any... plus, my car isn't turbo though man, so I hope it doesn't pull timing that bad, and why do it only in that certain power band? I mean I am close to 60thousand miles, I am wondering would just old plugs due that??? I mean I don't miss fire or nothin.

your oem plugs are good to 105,000 miles so i believe your good there, but maybe your stereo setup is overkill on stock plugs?

just put the car on the dyno and see if its flatening out after 4500. If its not flatening/droping off, compare your numbers to other Z on the dyno and see if you int he same ballpark. Have you dynoed your car in the past? Maybe you've just gotten used to the power and its all in your head. Also do a compression check.

did it start happening right after your tune? i got mine reflashed there and had an area around 4k where it felt like the vdc would come on and then it would start pulling like normal again after. turned out i had a bad flash and got another one and problem was solved. don't know if thats the same thing that you're having though.

yea it just felt like the vdc was coming on, it wasn't actually coming on. there was an error in the reflash and the timing was off or something in that one spot and it felt like it would slow down then it would be back to normal after i got above that rpm.

yeah, did they make you pay again for the new reflash? And who did your flash man? But you are right, it definately feels like my traction control is kicking in or somethin.
