I don't know how you guys feel about drive by wire throttle our z's have, but i hate it.Its one and only thing i feel should not be in this car. I had mt cars all my life except very first 96 Hyundai accent i learned to drive in but i got out of it as fas as i could. Had my z 4 months now and obviously love the car. But i cant get used to this poor excuse for throttle response. Its never a problem in WOT gear changes but down shifting and low gear changes just suck. Perfect rev matching is just plain hard...i feel nothing! I owned several 240s and could get the revs where need be with one appropriate bleep of the throttle...here i am like a blind man in the woods. Its either too high or too low. It got to me so bad last month that i actually went out to test drive another 240 and loved it power and handling sucked but i kinda felt one with engine/drivetrain of the car. Later i came to my senses and was glad i didnt buy it
I am not one of those people that talk good about them selfs but until this bs i felt i was much better then an average driver, am i doing something wrong or what?!?
I hear people constantly complain about clutch engagement but i think its the delayed throttle response and lack of feel that causes that feel.
So is there anyone who can sympathize with me or am i the only one?

I'm certainly not a huge fan of it, mainly because you can't do a burnout or brake boost without the car cutting throttle.
Oh, and I assume that have=hate in the title.

lol yeah i didn't realize i made a mistake.
i don't know i guess this is something that not everybody notices. if you are one of those chill drivers or people that had autos before and dont have any bases for comparison, i just feel its a horrrible downgrade from good old throttle cable.

The delayed throttle response is related to the super heavy OEM clutch/flywheel setup. Drop a lightweight flywheel and clutch setup in there, and I promise you your throttle response will be instant.
Rev matching will become second nature.

Drive by wire is great, just like any car you have to get a feel for the car, and learn what she likes. I am quite happy with this feature, now if you are talking about a feature that should not be on the Z it is the VQ35DE without twin turbos from the factory. The Z is a runner from the facory but I sometimes feel cheated cause I have not yet gone FI

I've notice this myself. Since day one (had it for about 6 months) my rev matching hasn't been nearly as good as previous cars.
When i heel toe, sometimes it almost seems like my small throttle blips go unnoticed. I've got to get on the pedal harder but then im over reving for the down shift.
I actually thought it was drive by wire too as Im not use to it, but if Sharrif says its the inertia weight. I'll try that i guess.

Wow, I'm actually surprised that some think the DBW response is slow in the Z's. Try test driving a 2006+ Civic Si. I've only had my Z for a couple of weeks now, but the response is a million times better than that of my previous 2006 Si, which had both DBW lag and rev holding issues that made smooth shifting a pain. I've found downshift rev-matching alot easier to do smoothly as well.
I find myself waiting on upshifts for the revs to come down for a smooth shift... Revs just dont drop fast enough with this beast of a flywheel.. So it would make sense..
Going to be swapping out my flywheel this weekend hopefully.

I thought that they were conservative with the throttle response for the sake of drivability for the average person.
But I can relate to some of what the OP is saying. For the first couple of months with the car, I kept thinking man why does this car feel slow. But as I gradually expanded into the higher RPM range and stepped on the throttle more, I realized that there's a significant amount of performance hidden by the car's electronics.
Although the engine's actual response is linear, the response of the throttle's programming is definitely not linear. The flywheel suggestion will help, but I'm pretty sure there's some fluff in our DBW.

Only thing I notice is while using cruise control and going downhill I get a kind of "jerky" action (and not in a good way). I hate that one thing, and to be honest I am not even sure that is related to DBW. Otherwise, I have no issues with it.
the only time I notice the dbw is when using cruise control, when you go in and out of cruise control it isn't quite as smooth like when you're using the cancel button and you have your foot on the gas ready to take over. Also if you have cruise on and go to accelerate a little without hitting cancel there is kind of a delay.

Thanks for the input guys. I actually do have upgraded flywheel. Same day i bought the car after 6hour drive transmission started knocking so i had a friend at Nissan put in Excedy light flywheel. It made one hell of a difference and its is so much easyer to rev match but as someone above said small throttle blips seem to go unnoticed which really gets on my nerves.

Seriously though, he Z is the second best one I've owned (best being my Audi S4). I can't say why you're having such issues rev matching. I've had none since the day I bought the car, under any conditions (in fact, its downright easy to do in this car I find)
