Default cams ?

what kind of gains would be expected from heads/cams ?

I know that in the domestic v8 world this mod usually sees a rediculous amount of power.

Would we see similar improvement on our v6? I see a few companies are putting out cams but dont see any specs yet.

Bear in mind that most of the V8 engines you are probably referring to (LS1, 5.0, etc) are pushrod or OHV (overhead valve). This means that one single cam located in the center of the block controls all valves by pushing rods up and down. That's why swapping out this single cam can have such huge gains.

With the VQ35 (which is an overheadcam motor) you will need to swap out at least 2, but most likely all 4 cams in order to get any kind of performance gain. I wouldn't consider it a good mod until you had some kind of forced induction - you'll end up with a rougher idle and probably less torque down low with a larger cam (say 264) otherwise.
