Default Another ROGUE SHORT Short Shifter install..REVIEW.

Well, I've had this short shifter in the garage now for about oh a year or so. Bought from a vendor here during a group buy. After a long wait in shipping and for "missing parts" it finally showed up, and then sat there! So James (my right hand, cousin...), was around for a family thing and we got to turnin' wrenches again.

So here are my thoughts on install and drivability:

-wait till the exhaust cools before you start (duh!)
-basic tools, 10/12mm sockets 3/8 and 1/4 drives with extensions, jack, jack stands, grease (small tube multi purpose will suffice).
-take your time, total work time aprox. 30 mins.
-follow the step by step instructions supplied on Rogue Engineerings website.
about a 5 on the 10 scale of difficulty.
I would do a step by step, but there are a few posted already..we didn't do anything new.
-I re-used the pivot bushings, added grease..no damage during removal. (these were the parts missing in the initial shipping, I received a new shifter cup in their place) Used a 3/8 extension to push them out...they are NOT in there tight, do it slow.
-MFG/Retailer supplied a new shifter cup, I recommend, if you do this buy a new one, the OG seems harder to take off than the install of the new one. Good investment, and will save time.

Driving impressions:
-initially did not notice a shorter throw. Rogue claims a 20% reduction.
-noticed a little notchy at low rpms (driving down the street to get to the freeway).
-realized the throw was shorter when I opened her up, and tried to shift fast between 2nd and 3rd (shift timing was off).
-higher RPMz and getting the timing right only took about a mile or so.
-definite reduction felt during "performance" style driving (traffic permitting)
-shifts up through all the gears were smooth, almost want to say smoother than stock..maybe that's the excitement talking..
-down shifting was smooth also, practicing my "heel toe-ing"
-Reverse engages beautifully (said that beacuse some have complained about not finding reverse or it popping out of gear..sorry if that was another SS)
-no EXTRA vibration in the stock.

In conclusion:
based on the price, ease of install, and overall driving impression: this is a good bang for the buck. If you are researching or thinking about doing a short shifter, I recommend this one as it will not disappoint you, IMHO.

Respect.
