Exclamation Clutch + Tranny Noises - 2007 350z Enthusiast (w/ vids)

Hey,

I have my 350z with about 2500 miles now, so far no abuse what so ever to neither the clutch or engine.

Ever since I got the car I found it very annoying that most times when I let off the clutch I hear this "pop" sound coming from the engine bay, and also as I shift I can hear the gears.

Both here in the forum and at Nissan I was told that should be the break in period, but the noise is still there, so here I am a sitting duck with a brand new car with clutch and tranny noises that my Prelude (you can see it on the vid too) with +- 275,000 miles does not make.

Once and for all, I hope to get some good input on this... Either I have to live with it, or I have to go back to Nissan kicking some ***, so I rest upon my fellas' opinions here in the forum to know what you think.

1st video (Starting engine and letting off clutch )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovwiwFO6PNg (4 seconds)
You can hear it between 2-3 seconds.

2nd video (Depressing clutch and releasing several times)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PraV-gDcPN0 (17 seconds)
This video is more detailed with the signs when I release clutch.

3rd video (Example of shifting noises)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8P-1LQye3k (11 seconds)
As I am driving, sometimes I hear them sometimes I dont

4th video (Random video of me backing out of my house)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgvxBltMLYk (16 seconds)
@ 00:05 sounds like the engine was stalling, well wasnt.

So that's about it.
Let me know what ya'll think, be patient!

Doesn't sound normal to me. At least my '03 doesn't make noise like that.

Has it always made those noises?

If it were mind, I'd definitely take it into the dealership a have them hear it.

Good luck!

Wow, you guys have some noisy cars.

IMHO, I don't think that noise is right.

Default Yes, always... since day 1

Got the car with 10 miles...

With about 250 I had to go to the dealer so I took a chance and had the guy in Servicing drive it, he heard the noise alright and since the noise only happens when driving on low speeds and low rpms he gave me that "this is a performance car, you gotta give it more throttle bla bla bla".

I dunno about that, my Z is the only one I have driven to the day so I will be waiting on opinions from more people with the '07's before I decide to take it to the dealer.

this is normal for the Z. most of this is the dual mass flywheel which IS and insnt normal it gets louder in Z/G's with miles when it starts sticking. its not likely dealer will be able to do anything. enjoy the z and don't worry about it. i drive G35s on daily basis they all do it some louder then others but they all do

best fix is to install a one piece light weight flywheel.

My 07 has all those same sounds. My thought was just a noisy throwout bearing.

My 06 makes the SAME EXACT noises. Its normal. These cars have noisy transmissions. And ya everytime I release the clutch it clunks just like that. So not to worry.

I noticed the palm trees in the back and I knew you were from Florida. =)

this may help you understand dual mass flywheel if youre not sure what i was talking about. when they get old they tend to stick and cause clunking noise as you can see some do it new...mine did as well btw

Thanks for the info Al.

But see, how come there are some people, like "BADASSTT", that does not have that problem? (Maybe he has an AT?!)

don't know what to tell you. some just don't notice it. like i said all do it but some are less severe then others. then some may let the clutch out slow rather then let it pop up fast. as you may have noticed its mostly noticeable in the garage or with windows up. bottom line i dont have an answer for that .. jsut dont know

if he gets lucky they may replace some parts but its not likely. i define normal as something that happens fairly often and does not have a negative side effect...so to me this is normal
do you still have oem drivetrain components? pull your car in to a garage and let the clutch out fast i am sure you will hear it it may not be as loud but it'll be there

I have my car in the garage at all times. But I just went out and checked it and I really didnt hear the sound thats on the video. Maybe it is a problem with earlier 07's. My cars manfac.date is 06/07. I havent had any tranny problems knock on wood to this date. I currently have 1120 miles on the odo. My tranny does make a sound on cold start. When I take my foot off of the clutch. But it is a rattling noise its not very loud but I was told by the dealer that it is normal. Once it warms up it gone.It does not make any clicking sound like that though.

My original clutch/flywheel made the noise and my new clutch/flywheel (replaced under warranty) do the same thing. The garage just makes it sound more pronounced.

how does it sound under load, when you’re cruising and yes I’m sure the garage amplifies the sound, cause if it was that loud it would **** the **** out of me.
New cars should be smooth and quite, thats a nissan error for sure.
