I'll be honest and say that I don't know how they are for the Z but I do know that David Norton is a great guy to deal with and his work is top notch. We use custom made spec clutch and flywheel setup in our Porsche 928 race car an it has held up for 2 years of hard track abuse.

Personally, I would shoot David an email at specsales@specclutch.com and David will most likely get back to you within a day. If you tell him what you are looking for feel and power wise he won't mislead you into getting the most expensive thing but will rather help you get the clutch setup that will suit your needs and desires.

In regards to feel and my experience I think they feel great on the 928. Our clutch is for high torque so it is either on or it is off and we also have a 10lb spec flywheel so it can be tricky to start off. Remember this is an extreme setup compared to what you will most likely get and I still think that the 928 is drivable whenever I have driven it.

Good luck and feel free to PM me with any questions you have.

I've had spec clutches and while I liked the feel, I ate up two of them. I would recommend an ATS or Exedy JDM spec over the spec

Good question for you... why are you going with the extreme kit if your goal is only 500hp? you can make 600hp on the base kit without much issue at all

Can you add some additional info such as what level clutch you had, what power level you were at, where you launching hard and what type of abuse the car was getting?

I ran a spec 2+(I think it was rated at 525tq) at around 450 and the pressure plate went out within 3K miles. Replaced under warranty. Attempted to get retuned for something around 500 and the clutch would just slip. I called spec directly and asked them about a clutch they offfered that would hold my power. I advised them I would be looking for 500-550 hp and comparable tq. They told me I would need at least a 3+, prefferably a stage 4 or 5 plate and would need that paired with their stage 5 pressure plate. No thank you. Went with an ATS twin disc and couldn't be happier.

edit, car was just street driven. No hard launches as traction is not even an option in 1st -3rd. Did a few highway pulls in 4th, but never really beat on it. Keep in mind, both spec clutches were properly broken in prior to even doing any aggressive driving
