Default Viper engine in a 350z, Discuss.

Ok, I have no idea if this is realistic but my friend suggested that I do an engine swap between my car and my truck. I thought it might be fun to try for the summer seeing as my girlfriends father owns a garage...but would the 350z be able to take that large of an engine?
I have a Ram SRT-10, so that'd be throwing a viper engine into a 350z...Crazy right? v10 500hp, 8.3L engine with 525lb of torque. I know the 350z is a very soundly built car. Is it enough to take that kind of a beating?

Now this is just an idea one of my buddies has, but I have the resources at my disposal to get it done. Yes I know its a lot of time and work, and yes I know that the engine may not fit without some serious modifications to the engine bay.

Please don't diss on the idea and say how retarded it is...I just want serious responses.

Is it possible?

won't fit....thought of this before I did the V8 swap...that motor is just to big and would require too much cutting of teh frame and firewall for the car to retain it's rigidity w/o some crazy custom roll cage

other than that anything is possible (would like to see a custom mid-engine V8 swap tho....peeking out under the hatch in the back) I mean some guy at sema did a full gallardo AWD swap into a new mustang....so believe me....you can fit 2 viper motors if you have the $

Im gonna keep the SRT-10 Garaged until winter and revert it back once the summer is done if I do this.

and I have seen a 350z with a Titan motor in it. He did nothing to the frame or firewall, just dropped it in and made a few modifications, thats why I was wondering...if you can fit that V8 in there...how bout a v10?

understood, but I already have these two cars, twin turbo costs some money that I don't have right now, I've been trying to find a used one somewhere but cant see anything under 4 Gs.

unless your gf dad's garage does the work for free(unlikely) youll have to spend some serious cash to get the job done.

Once swapped, putting the vq back in would be a nightmare as well. Just not worth it.

I know it won't be easy, my family is into racing and a few of them are mechanics, regardless of the work entitled, its not possible? I understand that everything CAN be done with enough cash thrown at the problem, but I'm going for a relatively clean swap. But I'm seeing that as an impossibility now. That sucks hardcore cause that woulda been a lot of fun to beast around town in. Oh well. Ill come up with some other crazy idea soon enough.

Nice car by the way, that thing looks like it **** some serious **** up.

yes it would be free labor, as well as me doing some work myself, if it can't be undone I wont have it done. Oh well, thanks for your posts.

it would probably cost as much to do the swap in materials as a turbo kit. i just dont like the idea of taking the enigne out of your srt-10 and putting it in the Z. sounds dumb to me. i mean your most likely gonaa F up both cars.

Yeah, true. Once I get settle in my new house I'm gonna see what I can do about finances on the two cars. My end goal is to have the 350z as a drift and the SRT-10 as "highway fun truck." This was just an idea that I laughed at at first, than stopped and thought to myself how badass it would be.

Both cars are amazing, I have yet to drive something that handles as well as the 350 and also have never met another car that could take the SRT off the line. (besides a viper)

But I've seen what can be done to 350z with the right amount of money...and damn some of this **** is nasty as hell. The LS2 alone was dead sexy, you guys seem to know exactly what your talking about and if yall say it can't be done. I'm not even gonna try.
Thanks again for your posts.

never give up man!!!!

i just wouldn't ruin two cars to make one....buy a viper motor, tanny and ecu from a junk yard instead of ruining a perfectly good truck...and the modifications made to the k-frame for the T-56 and V-10 would most likely be irreversable...unless you left your stock stuff alone and designed a completely custom tube frame...

hell if it's gonna be a dfirt car then go ahead and build a tube frame and slap that V10 in there...and take me for a ride

So you don't have enough money for a TT kit, yet you want to try and swap a V10 into a 350Z for the first time ever...

4 G's ain't gonna cut it. Not even for supporting mods. Not even close.

Anything can be done if you have the cash to blow. Key sentence "if you have the cash to blow".

4k wouldn't be anywhere near enough, and u wouldn't be done by winter to put it back in ur truck, and yes, the chassis mods would be irreversable, just sell the truck and buy urself the new 600 hp viper

...or swap in an ls2 into ur z, man, i still wanna do that, no i don't, yes is do, i don't know
