Most NA people go through the traps in fourth gear. I'm not sure how a 100 shot of Nitrous would affect things.

I would run your car with nitrous and the stock gears first to see how things go. If you hit the top of fourth gear in the quarter with Nitrous and the stock gears, I'd probably leave it alone.

I don't know about the Z...

But the G37 6mt does come with a 3.7 final drive. It makes quite a difference... plus the differences in the motor, of course...

The higher your gears are 3.7, 3.9, 4.083 the faster your acceleration is BUT the lower your top end speed is also.

It's actually a shorter gear ratio, not higher. But we got your point. ;-)

I know this thread's a bit old, but I had a question fro the OP.

I talked to the head mechanic at my local nissan dealer (Coral springs nissan / coral springs automall) and he said he's not familiar with the installation of the final drive gear and the differential. He said that he's used to just swapping the whole pumpkin and never took it apart before, Therefore I don't want to take it over there because I only want a shop that's experienced with this kind of thing to work on my car.

So the question is do you know anyone in SFL that would be experienced enough to install the 4.08 gear?

Japtrix, talk to Roger. We've had many of our customers throughout south Florida that we supply parts for use him to install the gears and/or aftermarket LSD's. Another good guy to use is Ben @ PuddyMod Racing in Brooksville, Florida (middle of the state). We also work very closely with him, and he's a terrific guy

I'm glad Adam answered before I saw your post.

I don't have any better information for you. Sorry.
