I know that automatic trannys can hold less power than manual, but I juts wanted to know about how much horse power can an automatic z make before blowing the tranny.... my boy had an automatic z boosting 10 pounds making almost 440 to the wheels and blew his tranny.....

I got from that was that your boy blew a tranny. Hope it was safe...
How'd he get his mouth around it? Anyways, before this thread shuts down, I'll throw you a quick bit of info on that. Mine's a 5AT, too. The stock AT tranny will put up with around 400, from what I've heard, but from that point on just do tranny upgrades. It's not as though buying the automatic will cut you off at 400 hp. SGP has a performance auto transmission that holds up to 800 hp.
I am running with 520 horsepower at the wheels on my automatic, and it's fine. All I have is a VB upgrade. The trick is to not do burnouts, and ease into the power.
