the car is in limp mode -- this occurs due to several different reasons
if you get a check engine light, you need to go get that code scanned.

That's the first thing I tried. The hobby shop here told me to try fuel injector cleaner added some ran for an hour. Still nothing.

Sounds like a dead MAF sensor. I don't know about the Z, but when I had my 2000 Maxima, typical symptom of a dead MAF is limp mode.

so... no check engine light?
dead MAF would give a check engine light. ... HELL if just about ANY sensor on this car dies, you get a check engine light.

hmm someone with a service manual could help you out.
or just limp it to the dealer. don't erase that code, should be under warranty.
