Red face rear main??

Ok,
So i did some searching and i have determined that there is a very small leak comming from the transmission. But i need some advice. The car is a 06, and it only leaks sometimes. Mainly it is 74 outside in the day and at night it gets about 39. My main question is is it normal to drive the car decently hard when it is that cold so all the seals get warm, then park it when it is this cold on a pretty inclined driveway and let the car get super cold, thus possibly letting a small amount of fluid to leak. My friend told me it was normal since it is on such a steep incline and i might only drive 2 or 3 times a week.
And second, yes i have a warrenty obviously but if i take it to a dealership they will say they can't duplicate the problem and i will probably have to remove the test pipes, since i don't want any problems with those.
Any advice would be good.
Thanks

Leaks are not normal in any situation... I'm not sure what your friend is smoking for him to tell you that.

The dealership shouldn't need to duplicate the problem, they should be able to clearly see that there's a leak there and they should fix it. Now whether seals and gaskets are covered by your warranty is a different issue (a lot of times items like those are not).

And no, you shouldn't need to remove your test pipes unless it's for legal issues (especially the kine in California).

what do you mean legal issues. I am worried that not only will these void my warrenty but the fact that yea, i live in cali, these are a federal offense from what i understand. It never leakes or does a drip i should say when it is parked with the back end up hill or on a flat, and i dont know if i really want to take off the t/p to bring it in. And that would suck if it wasn't under warrenty, it is a 06.

When you modify things you always risk Nissan trying to do what's best for shareholders...............refusing to authorize dealers to do the work and send them the bill.

When you violate the Federal Clean Air Act you always risk states like CA might just decide to enforce it and make you pay and pay and pay.

Luckily they cannot jail you unless you refuse to pay the fine/fines.

Many dealers will refuse to work on vehicles where obvious emission tampering has occurred regardless of who pays. Just isn't worth the hassels in future litigation.

Its an '06, so unless it was defective from the start, it shouldnt leak extensively. If it is FOR SURE dripping from the rear nose of the transmission, then it is the rear Trans Seal, this should be obvious if you inspect it.

Now....if you are parking on a substantial Grade and the rear nose of the trans is at the low point, you may get some SEEPAGE, Not a Pool.

A properly sized seal is designed to allow a tiny amount of seepage in order to keep the seal lips lubed. But as a rule, only when the internal shaft is spinning.

Ambient high temp and low temp will have an effect on the seal and will reflect in a small amount of seepage.....Expansion/Contraction. But disregard the 74 High...consider the 150 plus operating temp ratioed with the 39 Low.

There is a breather tube mounted at 12 O-Clock on the Bell Housing that vents the Trans, so unless it is plugged, forget about internal Pressure.

I offered some facts and I have no clue as to the amount thats leaking or variables---Its your call
