**Borla Installed with DYNO!!!!!***
#21
a 20 hp or even 16 hp claim for a full exhaust is always hokey.. but i can see where most of the power would come from the change of the Y/Down pipe.....
as for a 3rd gear pull in an auto, that is WAY above 1.something gear ratio...
for autos
its
3.540 first
2.264 second
1.472 third
1.00 fourth
.834 fifth
with a final of 3.357
in comparison, for a 6spd manual,
its
3.794
2.324
1.624
1.271
1.00
.794
final of 3.538
if anything he should have pulled in 4th gear... and with a 3rd gear w/ the auto shift... it would yeild higher numbers... but hey. at least the exhaust MADE power... eh?
but im not convinced that this is 'the exhaust'
as far aerodynamic draw backs from the smaller muffler. it should be ok..
the flat plating on the borla is nearly the same angle as the stock muffler..so it already acts like a flat panel diffuser.. shouldnt be too bad... from the looks of it.. ..

yeah Chebosto is right about the gearing. what kind of retards did your dyno? i would try it again in 4th gear. that should have been an obvious red flag that the dyno people didnt have a clue about either autos, this car, or dynos in general. if i was you i would try and get a refund of some sort, cause they totally screwed up your dyno.

Some dyno facilities don't like doing high speed runs on the dyno. Therefore they dyno in 3rd gear. True your peak hp won't be as high, but the result in gains is the same.
THE FACT REMAINS HE GAINED 16 WHP. He already said he was waiting on an email with the dyno. Give him some room to breath.

Patience. They dowloaded the results on a disk, however exel cannot open it. It will be emailed to me today. As far as I know the car was put in 3rd (manual mode) starting at 2K rpm with 2 runs to redline. I'll have the results posted hopefully tonight! I don't know why they selected 3rd gear and not 5th.

Im waiting for the dyno results to be emailed to me today. Not sure why their R&D dept did it in 3rd gear in the manual mode. They started at 2K rpm with 2 runs to redline. I'm going back when the car has 4k miles on it to see if things have changed. Maybe we should have done 3 runs, the second run was higher in the before and after runs.

yea.. next time.. ask them to
1. setup fans infront of the car to let your car get some cooling
2. besure to have them pull in the gear closest to 1.00
3. do at least 3 runs, with like a minute or so inbetween to let the car cool a bit, then you can normalize the number.. most of the time. the later pulls will get high numbers...
i think my car has around 50+ miles just from dyno pulling over the past few monthes...

I'm skeptical of the results. There are no dyno sheets at all and both TXStyle and someone else posted dyno sheets that got modest (no) gains.
I wasn't expecting Borla's estimates, but I was expecting a solid 10 whp over baseline.

I still think it is really strange/funny that all these dynos have been run, but no one has a graph to put on the posts. Is there a curse on Borla??
Is there anyone in LI, NY that has this exhaust that I can take a listen to?? I really want it, but I don't want to be much louder than the stock exhaust is. My Fiancee drives this car from time to time and she wouldn't be happy with a loud $35K car.

just remember this, a dyno sheet is not the bible. There are always many variances in dyno results. Just find what is important to you, other than what a dyno sheet says. Especially when it is not indepndently tested.

I'm glad the place where I did mine had the opposite. They said they were only the second place to have to replace the brakes on their DynoJet. It was either Lingenfelter or Callaway who was the first (don't remember which he said now).
When we were done, he dropped the files on a CD and handed it to me. He said to bring it in next time I get a dyno run and they'd just continue adding files to it.
Those guys love to run that dyno!
