Default Cutting out???

I have an 03 350Z with 41xxx. The dealer just put a diff engine in it. The engine came out of a newer model. The engine is the 306hp model. But it doesn't feel like it's pulling as hard as it should be. Some times it will cut out. Usually between 3000-4000rpm. Then it will take off, but still doesn't feel quite right. Any ideas?
Also, I do know that the engine has fewer miles than the car it's in. The car also has a Nismo cold air intake, and a Borla exhaust system. No headers. Any info is appreciated.

Ahhh... the dreaded vapor lock at 4500 rpm. This normally happens when non stock VQ motor is swapped into a pre-06 chassis. The metallurgical implementation is normally considered negligible below 4500 rpm, however, once the plenum is depleted of all oxygen and is breathing pure perhydrocyclopentanophenanthrene- the earlier model ECU goes into failsafe mode and shuts down the governor relay network. I believe that the reset time is about 6 .4 seconds (give or take 2 tenths of a second) before the engine resumes normal operation.

If they're still using the Amtel LS7440 Digital Multiplexer as the intital bog-down governor amplifier, you should be able to replace U13 with a Motorola DX7440-I think this is a legacy component, but I could be wrong. This does require surface mount technology soldering equipment and a hyperbaric plasma chamber-which I have here in my lab. You may also want to check to make sure there is gas in the tank.

There are a not a lot of people on this site who can help you, but I would be willing to offer my step by step advice over the phone for 50 dollars an hour via Paypal. I have a 4 hour minimum as of this writing. Let me know if you have further questions and good luck.

are you saying you also got the NEW Nismo intake? You would have had to I think since the HR motor has two intakes. If you don't have two, it's not a HR.

The intake is just the single throttle body. So are the ones that have the dual intake the only ones that are 306hp? Is that what bumped the power up?

I'm new to this. I have been out of gas powered cars for a while. I just sold my Duramax and purchased this car. I loved my Max! If you want to go fast in a line, that is the vehicle to do it in! That truck with 8" lift and 35's would smoke my Z!

Yes. It won't neccessarily throw a code. My crank sensor needed to be shimmed slightly because my engine would randomly cut out (just for a split sec) between 3~4k rpm. Jeremy & AJ from PF showed me the trick and it did the trick~ :-)

they swapped your 03 DE with a HR......all i can say is check the transmongular for abnormal peptide residuals. Make sure to do a EPH scan of the biometric readings considering all transcended varibales. Clearly something was done with this swap that has never been processed before yet phathom , consider yourself unique.

You could always go here. They are a well known performance shop, not neccessarily a repair shop... But the guys there have a real passion for Z's & G's and are very helpful.
