Default Pivot Ball

when changing clutch fork pivot ball with aftermarket pivot ball the aftermarket ball is longer thus causing t.o.bearing to move further foreward on shaft and closer to pressure plate when installing trans in vehicle seems no to want to bolt together like stock ball set up can someone please advise.

never heard of an aftermarket pivot ball, but if thats the case, then it sounds like you'll need a different length throw out bearing. As to what you will need, I have no idea...I never saw any point in changing the pivot ball for anything else

Somethings fishy here, .75 is a substantual difference, there is nothing wrong with the OEM ball. Id be curious to see the reasoning behind this and would appreciate the response from the supplier

BTW--- as a rule, if there is any weaknesses, its the arm, not the ball. Thats what does the work

Multiscape,

I sent you a PM about this. Looks like Nissan has changed the pivot ball in a few different years and models. You will not be able to use the pivot ball I sent you in your car unfortunately. I will refund you for the pivot ball plus any return shipping.

I will be finding out exactly which models are different and will be making a shorter one to fit those models shortly. I apologize for this mistake but leave it to Nissan to make changes between years and models even when they don't need to

As far as needing a pivot ball, they have been a major issue in the 300zx and 240sx communities for years. So much that both Nismo(Click me) and JUN(Click Me) make aftermarket ones just like I do. Here is an example of one that has already broken on a 350z:

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/306853-clutch-stuck-to-the-ground-and-wont-come-back-up-help.html

The problem with the stock pivot ball is the increased pressure to push in the clutch puts more pressure on the pivot point(pivot ball) so sometimes it will snap off because it is made from weak metal. The ones I produce are made from Chromoly so they hold up to the increased pressure better.

Here you go. Mine was broken and missing when I changed my clutch after TT install. I was there when they took the tranny out. I just did my clutch again ordered a new ball and they sent me one that was to short.

Those were my exact words when someone dropped off a z32TT for a clutch job, I later found that his was already broken, I would have been screwed on that job if someone hadn't said "these are weak, you should get one".
