Default Install on 4.08 Gears

I just ordered a set w/Z1's stage 1 kit...

Now from what I understand I will only need some "shims "...to be replaced..my Z has only got 10k on it...

I have been calling around and looking for a good shop to install it...

My question is if $500 is about right for an install price of just these parts ?...

Or

Is that way too high....?..

I know that quality is worth a few bucks..but I just want a "fair" price....

Thanks

I paid $500 for my install. Im pretty satisfied on the work they did. As long as youre happy with the end results is all that matters. I trusted my car with trustworthy shop and I rather pay the money for peace of mind that it will be done correctly.

yeah thats what I am struggling with now..

This is the link to whats involved in the stage 1 kit.
http://z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?model...ne&prodid=2833

I figured it was a bit high..but my z w/its volks and exterior goodies I get nervous...I also want it done right...

Now the shims issue...the shop should have different sizes right ?..I mean if they work on Nissans...

I just want to make sure that this install gets done properly...if I do pay $500 the shims should be included I would think...

yeah any shop will have all the shims. theyre free lol. but there SHOULD be a HUGE difference in price between a 3.9 and 4.08...which is why the 4.08's are getting popular. the 3.9's were popular and sold out, now theyre hard to find and as a result are very expensive.

edit: AHHH! Adam got the Central 20 gears in. not a real big difference. Maybe I just didnt notice em before. wont be a huge difference between 3.9 and 4.08. looking back I probably wouldve done 3.9's if they were available for comparable price when I was swapping. Doing the same thing either way though.

I would ask the shop first if they have the shims...not every shop should be expected to keep every size unless they do alot of ring and pinion swaps on the Z. The good news it the shims should be readily available from the dealer if you need to order
