Default 2006 owners

I was told that 2006 year model consume oil, but some 2006 owners said they have no problems with thier cars.

Does the oil consumption problem effect certain VIN?

I found this a 2006 Enthusiast with VIN JN1AZ34D76M307324

Is there any way to tell whether this car has an oil consumption problem or not?

Thanks

You cannot tell by looking at the VIN. The only way to tell is to check the level between oil changes.

Mine is not consuming any.

if you have searched you'd find the answer..

most 2006 M/T had the oil consumption, and only 2 or 3 ppl i saw that owns A/T complained about the same issue..

i have an A/T, and i'm all good..

I would not say most. If it were most people, this would be a pretty big problem.

MOST M/T(which had the rev-up engines but automatics didn't) did/do NOT have problems! At my dealer, only about 10% had adnormal use at some point. (I consider abnormal to be consumption that requires adding oil between scheduled oil changes).

When fairly new, my car had excessive consumption, then it faded off.

OP, There is a lot of info on this site regarding this.

From reading all the oil consumption threads I would also say this IS a big problem.

I’m no mechanic so this might seem like a stupid question regarding oil consumption, but say your car does consume oil but you’re regularly checking to make sure the level is constantly good, even if it means adding in between oil changes, is there a potential long term problem to this?

Welcome to the Internet! You would have to learn how to read what you see. Show me one "My '06 is not consuming any oil" thread. We only write when we have a problem so looking at the threads, you have to understand that this is the cyber world and we don't post non-problems, only problems. A very small % of 05-06 owners have had this issue when you look at the total number of such cars out there.

Just to prove you wrong... I am an 06 owner that has preached that there is no problem with my engine and backed it up with Blackstone lab analysis not to mention 5,000 to 7,000 mile oil change intervals on synthetic.

What are you talking about? How does that prove me wrong? It supports what I said above. Re-read my post. If you're talking about no "no problems threads", read deeper, I meant that if there is 1 such thread among a few dozen, it is practically 0% of the total complaints which brings us back to 99.9999% of members only starting threads when they have a problem, not when they have none. So to someone not realizing that, it would appear as though most 05-06 engines have the problem although the opposite is true.
