Are there many horror stories of the diff breaking from launching the Z? On the S2000 forum there were always people worried about launching the car because the diff is pretty weak.
Is this something the Z is known for also?

You'll get a better and, more importantly, accurate response if you post in the Drag sub-forum. One of the first things that will go is the axle or CV joints. Granted, that's if you're at a sticky track, on slicks and launching @ 5K+ rpms.
Even then with relatively "stock" hp at the wheels (240 ish) your axle and diff should be fine. You just have to remember to preload the drivetrain.

yeah if u pre load it so it doesn't slam when u launch it should be fine. .unless you beef up the TQ. .cause TQ is what makes the car take off. .peeps need to remember HP's for the long run. ..
think of it like them fools who do burn outs. .same concept. but they slam the drive train into motion and something will give sooner or later. . .

If you're worried about breaking differentials with a high-powered car, upgrading the whole driveline is a prerequsite anyways IMO. And that's just one of the many systems you'll have to upgrade if you're fast enough to be "breaking"diffs".

its not the speed thats gonna break them. .it's the force of power at one time being slammed through the drive train. .I would update the axles. .and deff change diff fluid every 15K if im going to be racing. .

Yeah I have a roadster on the way. I just wanted to know what to look out for. I don't plan on too much track time but its good to know the weak points.
But thanks for the great response that helped a lot lol.
