nice job....really prettys up the engine.

I just changed some of my coolant/heater pipes just so I could get rid of the ungle crossover hose that runs across the front of the engine. You may want to do that too. It's a ***** of an install though (with the engine still in the car.) Might not be so bad on your car. My car has twin turbos and piping in the way of the coolant/heater pipes.

the harness just snakes around the plenum, and all the wires just come out from there including the coil pack wires. this isn't my photo but i just made a drawing to show u what i mean

oh and i used high temp engine paint for the valve covers and lower intake manifold.

How long did it take to remove the valve covers? Does it require any removal of the front timing chain cover? Basically, is it pretty straightforward?

pretty straight forward but alot of stuff gets in the way.
remove the strut bar, intake manifolds, spark plug coil packs and then just misc items and wires that get in the way. i personally recommend using black rtv silicone instead of the gray (leaks less and more tacky and made for oil specifically) and have a friend there to hold all the stuff out of the way when your trying to put the valve cover back on, makes things alot easier that way.

I changed and painted my valve covers with the motor in the car. getting them off is the realtively easy part. Getting the covers back on and keeping the gaskets in place is the hard part.

It takes some patience, but it is not a terrible job to do.

I like that routing on the harness. I'm wondering if it would be a huge pita with aftermarket fuel rails and injectors/harnesses in there.

Thats an easy one to resolve ...just use indian head glue for gaskets. Its a light glue for the purpose of holding up rubber gaskets when you need to flip thgem upside down. Works great. Just let it sit for a few minutes until it gets really tacky. then apply gasket. Works like a charm.

sorry. just noticed you said high temp engine paint. Which brand did you use? Did you just use the paint, or did you use some kind of primer, seeing as how its plastic?
