Default When will YOU ECU?

I plan on getting the ECU upgrade soon after it is made available. I appreciate all the time and effort Chebosto (and TechnoSquare) has done putting this togeather (thanks) and I was just wondering when/if everybody else plans on getting the ECU for there Z.

Hopefully we will see some sort of group buy discount before to long from the great folks who designed this wonderful mod!

So when will YOU ECU?

Well, I do want to do it, especially with the ECU cutting power from other mods. I guess the main question for me is, if I should wait til after I do FI in order to mod the ECU?? Any mod I make will have FI in mind.

Ease of installation or location of installer a plus.

I want to as soon as possible but a number of members have raised ocncerns about how easy it owuld be to wipe them, and how expensive (time and money) they are to reflash with the new settings!

I would love to send them my money for an upgrade to the ECU, but will never send them the ECU.

Unless there is a hand-held unit to apply the upgrades, the stock ECU will do just fine for me, thank you very much!

Wouldn't it be nice to have a program like F-body cars do (LS1 Edit)? That way you could make any and all wanted changes yourself, and each time you put on a new mod. I wish that was available when I had my F-body.

I want the upgrade too, but I think I'll wait until my warranty expires (if I can wait that long!)

And I also want to see what developes from other companies.

I am waiting on a group buy for either the TC/flash or the piggyback unit.I will probablly choose the best bang for the buck.My Z is a Touring 5AT & I only have intake & exhaust upgrades.I don't plan any track or street fighting.Just want to open it up a little.Regards,Tom

DZ: yea you can adjust the fuel/air ratio.

but you fail to realize that it can't alter your timing, switch the variable timing maps, remove the speed limiter (eh) and raise the rev limiter....

the SUperafc is more of a fine tuning tool.
but hey. good luck

You cannot remove or alter the speed limiter, or you can't remove it but you can alter it? Not that I need to go faster than 156, or that that I will even ever go that fast. I chickened out somewhere over 130.

Nice thing about the SAFC-II is, if it makes your engine ping, you can change the settings to better ones......you can monitor the knock sensor.......you can store 2 different maps for two different applications......it has a digital RPM reading, in case the factory tach is slightly off......it's password protected.......and it gives you the same air/fuel leaning out horsepower that your ECM gives.......but not only will it lean out the fuel up to 12 points, but it can make it richer by 12 points also......which makes it useful for forced induction also............yeah, it's a pretty good tool

Would prefer a good Owner Reprogrammable flash system, don't want to splice the harness, but a non user tuneable flash doesn't turn me on either. Guess that makes me on the wait list.

Default So when will YOU ECU?

When it becomes a PNP diagnostic port option that allows flashes back to stock ala Hypertech and LS1 Edit to name just two.

APEXi is rock solid! In every Tuner magazine I read!

Someone mentioned pinging AGAIN?

Pinging can be controlled by Apexi by making adjutments to A/F and it is not SET IN STONE MAN! It's constantly being monitored and you can reflash at your will!

I tried to get in on with TS with my modded Auto but THEY said they didn't do modedd cars, now all of a sudden it seems they do everything? Not dual mode street strip though like APEXi.

I would like to see the PNP Port option added because with the current poll I had to vote never but that isn't accurate.

I'm not slamming you Chesbesto but when you engage in every thread and then do 180's you got to expect a little heat when you copmare yousrelf to the award winning APEXi!!!!

Remember at the beggining of your courageous beggining you said our current ECU negated *ALL* mods. Are you doing a 180 on that now?

It won't negate my SC! Cold air meeting back pressure ='s BOOST and the controllling is done through the FMU not the ECU.

[Ducks, runs and puts on flame suit!]

Recreate a poll with more options to get a more accurate result stat is my vote!

man oh man,..... A/F isnt everything... just cuz its changeable from a stand alone unit like the AFC, you think its god. i'm just saying its more of a tuning tool than major change. if you were thinking logically, obviously large amounts of air such as boost can exceed the limit of the feedback loop can handle. the ECU will negate it to a certain point. but thats lost HP from an unefficient running ECU..

just open your eyes and stop being so biased all the time towards me... heck i could care less what you eventually do with your ATI... just saying if you want to run efficiently. i hope you do it right than just slapping on a fuel pressure riser/fuel pump.

btw. its "chebosto" surely if you're going to knock me, please at least spell my handle correctly.
