Tac freezing
Has anyone had their tac just stop and then resumes moving a few minutes later?? Sometimes my tac will hang at 2300 rpm and wont budge no matter what the engine does. It will not fall to zero, but just sit there and freeze. It varies between the rpm it freezes at. Anywhere from 1500 to 3000 so far. It does not do this everyday. Mabye once every two weeks or so.
Thoughts???

Hmm, that explains it. I had the same thing happen to me for the first time yesterday. I've had the car for 3 years and never noticed it do that before. It was just for a few seconds, the top was down, and come to think of it the sun would have been in the West, hitting the dash directly. That's interesting.

optical sensor?
I just guessed that the cause might be expansion of a part in pivot mechanism which may cause the needle to get "stuck" until the part cools down and shrinks back.
Nissan really needs to pay attention to details... (rattle, cheap material for interior, etc.....)

I figured it might be heat related, but why doesnt it do it everytime the car sits out in the sun and gets really hot inside? And blocking the sun with my hand makes it instantly start working again, and I know it doesnt cool off that quick. Weird stuff.

Do you guys think doing a 50% tint on the gauges will help keep the optical sensor from receiving too much direct light and maybe fix it?
This has happened to me sooooo many times and has made me beyond ---> and Nissan never could do anything for me since they "couldnt duplicate" the problem....
