Mobile1 5w30

Had the car up last night changing the Trans and Rear Diff fluids to Redline Synthetic (have had the fluids for about a month now lol). Figured while the car was up (couple hundred miles from an oil change) I might as well change the oil.

A local Advance Auto had a Mobile 1 special... 5 quarts full synthetic and Mobil 1 filter for $26.98. Seems to be running great, put about 20 miles on it. Also noticed that the car warmed up quicker this morning.

Not to mention the switch to Redline Synthetic in the trans made a 100% difference in shifting. I know some people claim they don't notice much of a difference... although my 05 Touring with 25k miles was a little rough (nothing to worry about though). However, switching to this fluid made me realize how much better it could have been... I'm impressed.

I started off with Mobile 1 5w-30, but I have been using Castrol Syntec 5w-30 for the past several oil changes.

why? the Z is not a truck that is doing heavy hauling 100% of the time and has no need for it. but whatever, your waste of money.

actually, if you search, there are alot of people here who use M1 0w-40 , especially them FI guys, and they all say its worth the money and one of the best. so i dont know where my money was wasted there. other then the fact that i probably dont need a 40 weight, im still n/a, but with the cali heat and daily hard driving, ill be trying it out and see how it does for n/a use.

Yeah I second this. I've been doing alot of research on synthetics over the last week or so. I just switched from regular 5w30 to M1 Full Synthetic 5w30. Although I agree with your research.

There are tons of oil analysis that have been done and alot of the 0W oils prove to be very useful. Some aren't worth it (in comparison to a 5W30) but there are quite a few that had great reviews (Euro Castrol Syntec 0W was a top winner I believe).

I have to do an oil change soon, if I can't get it... I might just go with standard Castrol Syn 5w-30.. I've read an overall better consensus about Castrol than I have M1.
I use Euro Castrol 0w-30.

I can still get it at Autozone. They are (were) the only place that carries it. A couple of months ago, they were running a special: 5 qts of any castrol syn (incl. euro) AND a Mobil-1 filter for $30.

You can use 5w-30 during winter and 10w-30 during summer.

I am not sure if 5w or 10w gives better gas mileage or not??? Anyone???

I'm currently using it after reading the oil analysis thread.

You should check the oil analysis thread because the M1 0w-40 is showing better results than M1 5w-30. Even Conventional Castro GTX 5w-30 is showing better results than M1 5w-30. If you want to know how your oil is protecting then get a used oil analysis.
