Default Intermittent shaking

Trying to get some ideas of what to check for a shaking I am having at highly speeds. The shaking is not constant you feel the Car vibrate for a couple seconds and then its smooth for a couple Seconds not sure if it is starting in the rear and shimmying to the front or visa versa. I really Start to notice it at 80and from there it gets worse. I Just dint know chat would cause this because a imbalanced tire would shake constantly. I had a car that had this before and it was a u Joint on the drive shaft but I tried moving the u joints to See if there was play but there wasn't any, Could it still be the u joints? is there a different way to check.

wheel bearing or suspension joints possibly. jack up the suspension and put your hands 12 and 6 o'clock on the tire and try moving it (push with one hand, pull with the other) to check the wheel bearing. maybe you have a huge wing thats coming loose?

I'll try that out. I have coil overs So I don't think it's the Suspension

Go to your tire shop and check the balance on your wheels/tires. A balance issue doesn't always shake constantly. Start with the easiest first. Also, are you sure your vibration is speed dependent, or is it RPM dependent?

does it change when you turn? if the sound changes when you put load on one side vs the other, its a wheel bearing. try taking some corners and paying attention to the sound

I started getting this (80mph and on) when I put new wheels & tires on. They've since had the tire pressures re-adjusted and I still get it...not sure what exactly causes it.

yeah they fit snug and i didnt ave this problem at first buy i just noticed it one day. and it's been doing it for a while. and like someone else said sometime every once in a while it seems to get smooth but after a turn or i stop and get back up to speed it does it again. i do notice the vibrating before 80 but it is very light but at 80 you can really feel it.

i would start with borrowing a set of stocker's and going for a ride, even if it's not the wheels you may have shifted a belt in one of your tires.any monster potholes get in your way lately?u-joints are usually noticeable around 35,tires around 55 and bent wheel or belt shift will be all over the place coming and going most noticeable at high speed.80 only in my experience has been wheels not on hub tightly and shifting around, you acually get a "bounce" off of the tire at high speed.again put stockers on for process of elimination,if you still have the problem at least you can check tires/wheels off the list.

I also have this problem. It all started the day I switched out my rims. Since then I have replaced the suspension, tires and rims but the problem is still there.

Car acts fine until I pass 72-75mph then I get this weird vibration that comes and goes. I did hit a huge pothole when I first switched out my stockers on the front passengers side which dented a rim and blew the tire. I am guessing the bearing is messed up as well.

I have purchased a replacement to see if it fixes the problem. If that doesn't work ill put back the stockers and see if it might be due to my rims which I doubt b/c im on my second set of aftermarket wheels with the same issue???

could be a wheel bearing but i think the key word's here are "aftermarket wheels".if you still have a stock set it's a free test.
