Default I think I am right

Hey all. I am experiencing a grinding noise when shifting into sixth gear. It happens almost every time, with periodic exceptions if one were to shift VERY slowly. The other gears are ok at this point, but shifting does use a spirited action, although I think that is just part of the deal.
I am nearly certain it is a transmission problem, and not a clutch problem. I was hoping to hear your opinions. Thanks!

Thanks to those who have already answered. Assuming there is a problem with sixth gear on the transmission, am I risking damaging other parts of the vehicle by driving it?
