Question TS ECU - Group Buy - What if????

First off, let me say that I have no affiliation with TS and this post is strickly to gage interest and the fact is that I am going to get it regardless but I cannot for several weeks. So.........

What if TS offered a group buy on their ECU upgrade, who would THEN be interested?

So lets just say that if 10 or more people got in on the group buy the price would drop (lets just say) $50.00 per person. And if 18 people got in it would drop by $100 and if 25 or more got in it would drop by $150.00 which would bring the price down to $445.00 total.

>10 = $545.00 ($50.00 off)
>18 = $495.00 ($100.00 off)
> 25 =$445.00 ($150.00 off)

Who would be in????????

If we started a list and then passed it on to TS maybe our demand could help get it started. So who is in????

Why don't you approach TS and see if they will organize something like this instead of speculating? I'm sure they will give you an answer right there. It's a very good idea.

I figure if we had 25+ interested/for sure buyers they will feel the need to give us the group buy!

Lets put on the pressure

The biggest problem is getting it installed. I'd love to have one but I can't drive down there, or send them my ECU for several days (since this is my only car).

Without a local installer, the chances of getting one of these seem significantly smaller.

Yea I guess a bunch of interested people would help, but you can lie

Plus, I don't think techno square has anything to lose, especially since they are getting a bit of bad press over 2003z's dyno run that actually saw him lose a tiny bit of peak power and gain around 2-5 in some areas. Disclaimer: That may be because of his exhaust though. And for some reason his A/F ratio is 14.5 and choppy.

you know ill admit, at first the price was holding me back a little bit, but im not sure anymore? even with a group buy, im not so sure if im ready for this mod? TOO much mixed feed back?? some people love it, and for them its great! but others??? now in TS defence, the guy who dynoed 1-2hp more, i STRONGLY belive that it was from other problems NOT the ecu flash that caused that! ive seen his dyno, that was no ecu flash! and TS is working with him to figure out what went wrong! so they do infact care! but i feel that i can get the same gains from a piggyback ecu! i think we need to see some dynos of cars WITH mods before, and after the ecu, and i may eat my words!

SAFC-II is out. I may end up opting for that.

Also, my buddies over at MRC Motorsports are working on an intruiging piggyback ecu that is fully tunable. That should be nice.

Or I am thinking about just holding out for a stand alone unit. We'll see. I have ruled out Techno Square though. They are just too far from me to benefit from the "customer service" part of the cost. I must say though, they are very responsive to questions.

I would contact TS before doing all this toruble.

So what if you got 25 people on a list and TS didn't want anything to do with it.

Then you would have just wasted some time.

I'd consider it, bark... then again, though, why not invest that $500 towards a SC ? :/ That's my dilemma...

not much interest in the TS ECU even WITH a group buy.

I wonder how sales really are for them? Lots of time, effort and money went into the research and design of their ecu program. I for one am a buyer.

People, your really NOT INTERESTED? WTF?

The problem is not a lack of interest (I would guess), but asking to find a large group of early adaptors. I for one have lots of questions regarding a flash vs a piggyback or replacement ECU type mod. If you install a piggy back, you can continually tweek as you vary your mods. Will TS offer a JWT like pricing structure where you pay x dollars for the first upgrade, and just $100 for each additional version, or do you have to pay x dollars each time? Also, what happens if you run your battery down (like I have already done once). Does the flash get lost? Do you have to pay x dollars again? Do dealers reflash the ECU as part of scheduled maintenance? If they do, how much would it be to get re-flashed by TS? x or some small fee? For me flashing ECUs is brand new, so its hard to jump in. If it was an ecu replacement like JWT had for the Z32, I would be much more interested because I know how that works.

Rumor has it that JWT is coming out with an ECU mod, and I would like to see what he can do (since he is local for me, and TS is in LA). I almost got the B&B exhaust when it first came out, based simply on their rep with the Z32 community. After seeing the gains that Borla made, I am glad I waited. Since TS didn't get dramitic gains, I think waiting is the best thing for me right now.

Besides, I need to get a suspension on my car to see if it solves the feathering problem (since Nissan is doing nothing about it and my tires are about shot). So my funds are going there right now.

Waste 500 and mess with ECU for questionabble 2hp gain... WTF YOU thinking? Have to much money on hands?

Here is real deal: Just send your ECU to me, and I'll tune it to that +2hp for just $299.99!
Of course I won't even touch the thing, but how would you know?

Chestabo or whatever his name is, has sort of turned me off to the TS thing. In every thread, he says something like that's all I have to say, and then comes back with flames flying. Right now, I'd just as soon leave this one alone. I would however, like to up the redline, because I just ordered the Crawford Plenum. This mod, at this point in time, IMHO, offers the most bang for the buck. After exhaust and intake mods that is.

Only my opinion.

Lou
