Idiot - I live in Tampa/St. Pete. What the hell were you thinking putting a CAI on a Z in Florida. Have you been here during the month of August. I literally swim to work in South Tampa.

Keyto - pay attention - I'm about to kick some knowledge your way.
First, $50 for a used airbox in the classifieds is a lot cheaper than 12k for a new engine. Now I am no math wiz but I can figure out that ratio without my abacus. Second, why are you looking around for shops? You have 2 of the best shops in the southeast for the Z right around the corner (Performance Factory and Forged) if you are considering a built engine.
Son, get yo head out of yo azz.

BTW, let you insurance company think it is blown engine and collect the check. In the mean time have one of the previous mentioned shops build one bad *** fully built turbocharged engines. Your premiums might go up but you will have a bad *** ride.....

Did they take a cylinder head off the motor? If so look at the bore and see what it looks like. I'd be surprised if she really sucked up enough water to ruin an engine on the causeway.

did your intake have one of these bad boys on it?
this is a bypass valve that comes on the nismo and aem cai's. i am trying to confirm whether or not you had one in order to determine whether it is able to withstand a splash of water or not... it will be between the filter element and the MAF.

That's what I was getting at.
FYI My buddy just hydro locked his civic si the other day. He has State Farm and they are paying for a new motor. If you have full coverage and you do end up needing a motor you insurance my cover it. Won't hurt to check. I still think something is fishy. If your CIA has the bypass pictured above then they're yanking your chain.

Have your mom whip out the AAA roadside assistance card and have the car towed to PF which stands for Performance Factory which is located in Orlando and have JT which stands for Jeremy Tibbs who is one of the best engine builders in the country, and have him check it out. Have your mother send me the difference between what JT charges and the stealership charges, and she can send it to my paypal account.
OK now go take a bath and put your jammies on and have your mom read you a story.
j/k about the last part
