Why I hate dyno's:

1-they don't fully simulate real driving conditions
2-depending on what dyno you run dempends on your results
3-each dyno can run different numbers on the same settings over and over
4-each dyno has different settings so depending on what setting you are on you are getting either more or less whp
5-depending where you are int he world depends on your numbers... elevation really does matter... same car on same dyno will run different numbers above and below sea level (clorado vs new orleans)

I've seen my car(stock 2003 track 350z) run about 250whp on a dyno and 230whp on a dyno... that's a huge difference in power so what's the point, like i've heard dyno tuning sucks compared to actually tuning the car while driving it... hence why I hate dyno's

A dyno simply put is a tuning tool. There really isnt any other way to set up a timing map properly besides on the dyno, although I personally believe afr should always be confirmed off the dyno.

I would stick to the same dyno.....makes every thing a little more consistint.....there will always be variance but if you stay on the same dyno you can take some of that variance out

Also tire pressure and tyre type make a huge difference on the dyno results.

 

yurp. i dont really mind dynos, what i mind is people that either brag about their dyno results in a very arrogant ways, or people that think because their car is powerful, they are a good driver.

 

I like the dyno just to show the difference in power a mod makes. I baselined my car, then while on the dyno the mrev2 was put in, then the spacer. Its a good tool to see what difference a mod makes. It defeats the purpose if you do it different days with different conditions, but i had it done while still strapped in and it shown a good deal of information.

 

which would be all the 16, 17, and 18 year olds on here that "bought" their Z, their the best drivers out of all of us

Dyno Dynamics

Looks it up, numbers are just that number what you want is a good constant tool to tune with. Dyno Dynamics dynos rock for that.

Dynos are kind of stupid, imo. Taking it to a track and measuring trap speeds are a better indication of power. Again, just my opinion.

 

that was my entire point; dynos measure the power output of the car but until you take your car to the track, they are just numbers. lap times are in no way an indication of power, but rather the ability of the driver to control that power and use it efficiently... which is much more important IMO.
