I need help identifying the VLSD
If you turn one axle flange in one direction, and the other side turn in the opposite direction, it is an open differential, so then it is a 3.5X MT ratio. You could try to rotate the axle flange and count the driveshaft rotation as a proportion to attempt to determine whether it a 3.3X 5AT or 3.5X MT, but not likely, so I would drain the fluid, pull the cover and count the ring gear teeth. You will have to look up the count, I can't remember, but the 3.3 has more teeth than the 3.5, and the pinion tooth count is different too, but you cannot really see it behind the diff. I will try to get the toothcount sheet I have at home if you don't find it. Also, some/all ? auto G35s had a different ratio than the auto Z, too, you will have to research.

that would be too easy. instead we got a picture of a rear differential and we have to play guess what it is
Pull the cover off and count the ring gear teeth, it will take all of five minutes. I will count teeth on my old 3.3 after work. I am pretty sure I have a spec sheet that had the 3.3, 3.5 and 4.08 ring and pinion toothcounts, but have to dig...

and no, that is a rear differential. the VLSD is the parts inside of it.
