Default Upgrade Injectors on a "STOCK" fuel setup for Vortech Full Kit

Hey everyone,

So I'm considering taking one possible error point out of the equation and replacing my factory fuel injectors.

This weekend I'm installing my Vortech Supercharger Full Kit that comes with an inline 155 lph fuel pump and runs off of an FMU and the UniChip with a Relay that the UniChip uses to control that inline fuel pump.

My assumption is that the inline fuel pump and FMU are what really control the "extra" flow that will go through my injectors as opposed to the UniChip.

Although Vortech has told me that the stock fuel injectors are fine for the stock full kit I worry somewhat that my injectors are running at too high of a duty cycle and will at some point fail.

I'm thinking about tossing some plug and play 440 or 500 CC DW or RC injectors on.

Since the fuel system is basically stock and the FMU is more or less ramming more fuel through there should there be any problems with going this way?

Will a retune be needed for updating the injectors to a higher max flow rate?

I know most people here go the intank fuel pump and big injectors and those injectors are usually controlled by the UTEC by TurboXS but since my setup is different I wanted to see if anyone has done this to an otherwise stock Vortech Full Kit thus far.

TYIA.

If you just find someone to tune the Uni-chip and do no other mods to the SC , your stock injectors will be fine . People here are always in a big hurry to replace what Vortech has tested over and over and found to be safe [if left alone ] Drive the car and have fun !!!!

If you add the larger fuel injectors without adjusting the unichip then it will run overly rich. Also without readjusting the ECU, you will have a hell of a time starting and idling the car with larger injectors.

Eleminate your worry and add a little security and upgrade to 440's or larger if you think you'll want more power downstream and tune with upgraded inj's..

is there a limit that the stock ECU can manage....

take the SC out of the equation and say a guy had every bolt on that he/she could buy....what injector size can the factory ECU hold without issues....isnt it 380? I can remember where I heard of got that info...but I think its 380 which may not be worth the headache of changing them>?

Stock ECU can handle 1000cc injectors with a little tweaking and Osiris.

But the stock ECU can't handle any change in injectors without drastically skewing your AFRs. Injectors aren't plug and play devices, you need to adjust the tune any time you move to a different size.

Sweet!
Thanks....
I know there is much tuning that needs to be done with any mod to the car... welll maybe not an oil pan spacer or oil cooler...but even those mods have small effects on the tune...

I want to upgrade my injectors just for an added saftey. I dont need 1 hp more.... I am happy with what I have. I just want to run things richer on the upper rpm band than what i have now.

So maybe I will invest in some 440s with my Unichip Vortech RevUp kit set up @ the stock 8psi. That way my stock injectors dont have to run at a high duty cycle...which over time....could fail.

Tuners here always say...Unichips dont run the injectors so you need to buy a UTEC... I dont know why. I just dont want to ever buy a freggin UTEC. I think they are overated. I hear you can run upto 8-9 psi on a stock (adjusted/flashed) ECU also... a birdie told me that.

Why use a piggy back at all though is my question? The Unichip won't help with the cranking and idling of the car. Just get a proper ECU tune done by one of our Pro Tuners and you can get rid of the Unichip all together. Stock MAF is good to about 400whp from what we've seen.

If you toss in larger injectors the ECU needs to be told about it, and adjusted accordingly.

The vortech comes with the Unichip...I didnt deviate from anything. I did the out of the box install... put down 388 on a dynapack dyno.

I had them pull some timing back because my air fuels are about 12.2 at the most under boost. I want it about 11.7....optimal range.

so I was thinking of going with the 440s... adjust the stock ecu....then adjust timing (UNICHIP) according to that thresh-hold.
