Default new clutch and flywheel $2600

my car is at the dealership getting a new motor because of oil consumption, they gave me a call today and ask me if i want to go ahead and get the clutch and flywheel change since everything is taken apart already. dude said that i can save 1000 dollars by going ahead and changing the clutch and flywheel. he said that its not worn out YET. he quoted me $1600 to get it change out.

Is that price outrageous or is that normal.
Also should i replace the clutch and flywheel at nissan in the future? or should i get an aftermarket one?
and how hard is it to get it replaced.

yeah seem kinda high for a stock clutch and flywheel. also this was the same nissan that quoted 600 dollars for new front rotors and brake pad.

A factory clutch kit is anywhere between $350 and $400. Depending on what nissan decides for there prices that day. I dont remember what a flywheel costs since we dont usually do them. But I know $1200 is WAY to much

That price is outrageous...
They have to remove and reinstall the clutch and flywheel if they are replacing the motor. For them to install a new one should merely cost the price of the parts. 1600 bucks would be a hell of a deal if you were getting an ATS twin disc. If you are getting a stock clutch and flywheel, subtract a grand off that quote and that is more along the lines of you should be paying

yeah dude said that if i wait 6 months or so for when the clutch is worn out it would cost 2600$ to get it replaced. thats why he called and like you should go ahead and get it done to save a grand.

IIRC< the cost of the OE flywheel is upwards of $900. The clutch is like $300-400.

Lemme check

Edit: I was under on the prices... Here ya go.

Go look at the flywheel and clutch disc yourself... if its got extreme burn marks then it might not be a bad idea to replace them, but if its not too severe you might just replace the disc. Stock FW is about $900-1,000 I recall, plus dealer markup... so $1600 for all of it sounds about right but I hope that includes install time. Dealerships are pretty excessive on charging you for crap you don't necessarily need.

You can get a nice aftermarket clutch, PP, and flywheel and install for about $1500 including disconnecting the trans from the engine to replace the parts.

If you can take some pics of the parts and some more experienced guys here who know more about this stuff can tell you if it needs replaced or not.

dude that price is bullsh*t. had my trans replaced, clutch was 400 with labor, flywheel would have been 650. you are getting robbed.

go aftermarket.

So why pay to replace something that is working properly? Sort of like replacing the brakes now because eventually they will need to be replaced.

BTW my OEM clutch lasted 63,000 miles. Five years of weekend drag racing.
