Thumbs up Stock dyno numbers and first mods

I have an 03 touring 6 speed Z and had it dynoed last weekend. It is all stock and dynoed at 226hp to the wheels. While the car was strapped to the dyno, we installed the Motordyne 5/16 spacer kit, minus the lower thermal gasket, and redynoed it. The car made 238hp to the wheels. I was very impressed with the gain. I have since purchased a Stillen pop charger and a carbon fiber cooling plate. I'm will install these items this week and redyno the car this weekend and post the results. I'm also having the stock plastic Z tube replaced with a custom metal tube and having it thermal coated as well as thermal coating my intake manifold. I will dyno after every mod so I will know the gain of each item. If any of you guys have any suggestions on my next mods, I would appreciate them. I know I need an exhaust and any suggestions on that would be a help also.

I like this new member already.

I literally just ordered the 5/16 spacer myself. Nice to see such a decent gain right off the dyno, on the same day. I will be interested what kind of gains your other mods produce.

what are your goals with your exhaust, are you wanting to do the full system, or just catback.. what kind of sound are you going for, what kind of gains are you wanting from it, whats your budget?

I installed a Stillen intake today and a carbon fiber cooling plate. I'm also having my metal intake tube made and thermal coated this weekend. I should have my car on the dyno Saturday and I will let you know how much I picked up from the intake.

I also ordered a set of Stillen race pipes to delete the cats today. I'll post dyno numbers as well when I get them on.

Wow nice gain with the MD spacer!

What kind of dyno? Dyno Jet?

I was just wondering because 226whp seemed kind of low for stock...Maybe I have been looking at HR dyno's for so long that I completely forgot about the DE's low numbers.

Very nice. Where are you getting your car Dyno'd?

I plan on taking my car to Ft. Smith in November to get dyno'd.

It was on a dyno jet dyno and was at POLK Performance in Alexander, AR. They are the only guys I let touch my car.

Well, it's official. Re-dynoed my car today with the addition of the Stillen intake and the temperature was actually a little cooler today than when we last dynoed the car. I lost 3RWHP and 3 FTLBS of torque. Isin't that a kick in the groin? I didn't expect a substantial gain but I really didn't expect to lose HP. So, do I go back to the stock airbox or just say it looks cool and keep it? The test pipes should be here by Monday, I hope I dont lose more HP when I put them on. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

well there is alot of variables when u dyno ur car for comparison against stock. Did u reflash the ecu to relearn ur mods? weather change? What gear? what kind of coating and intake did u have? the CF plate u added is pretty much for looks or highway speed. Why dont u put on exhaust and ur tps then dyno it with the intakes on! Then take ur intake off and put the stock airbox back on and see what u make. Since intake is a breathing mod i could imagine it would be better with other breathing modifications. List can go on

Btw how did u get a stillen intake for a 03?
http://www.stillen.com/browse.asp

edit nvm found it. Looks like good design however i dont like stillen products. IDK y they wouldnt list this intake on there actual site

Just called and spoke with Polk about getting some headers installed. Seems like they are good guys to deal with. I might have to make a trip down there soon.

Thanks for the referral!
