tranny fluid question
Hey guys,
I bought four quarts of royal purple 75w-90 gear oil to change my tranny fluid with. Says it meets gl-4 and 5 requirements. Have any of you used this type of tranny fluid? I know this isn't what nissan recommends, I just wanna make sure it's safe for the tranny before I put it in the car. Thanks in advance.

some people on the forum have said they have used RP for their tranny, and most of them say its okay... I prefer Redline, and Amsoil... both have had significant changes in my transmission in running smoother than OEM fluids.

Whatever you do, make sure that your tranny oil does NOT contain sulfur. Most GL-5 oil contains sulfer, which can eat the bronze synchronizers. I haven't looked into royal purple so I don't know if it contains sulfur or not. I did research Redline's GL-4 oil and it doesn't contain sulfur, so I use it.
