I found that "PROBABLY IT'S POSSIBLE TO GIVE VQ35HR into 03-06 350Z BUT WHY TO DO THAT..." or something like this. But I want to be 100% sure and not PROBABLY, because in nissan they told me for the block 4k$. And it's only for block and I have one whole VQ35HR now which I could buy but not sure if it's possible to fit the engine instead of DE...or what else needs to be changed. ECU for sure...But I need to know if I can give VQ35HR into my Z.

Thank you!

the engine is taller so you will need a new hood, strut brace, and whatever other misc stuff that required.

from what i can tell the cooling system is totally diff, so you will need all that. you will need the extra airbox, maf, harness, ecm, etc.

in short, it will cost you more to swap an hr than it would to build a nice de.

bimmertech, thank you alot for your answer. Though it didn't make me happy...well, I need only DE, which is harder to find then HR.
Thanks once again!!

On which planet, exactly, do you live?

If you're having a hard time finding a DE short or long block, you're not looking in the right places.

I'm from Europe, and here is not such a huge amount of Z's then in America. Here are also no used parts for sale or parts from crashed cars. And if yes, then it's more then expensive. Just for your info, the price of new engine for my Z is more than 30k $....In America you can buy new Z for that price. Here new Z is for 80k and our average payment is 1k ....So...now you know on what planet do I live.

Thats why they have these magical things called airplanes and boats, and these wonderful inventions transport objects all over this planet of ours every day. There are even companies that specialize in this.

So, theoretically at least, it might just be possible to buy an engine from someplace other then the rock you live under, and have it shipped to under your rock. Maybe.

If someone has the entire HR motor, harness, computer, fuel rails etc airbox etc etc will it bolt right up to an 03-05 Z with no problems? I have a bead on just such a motor but not much clear info on if its a straight drop in. I know about the hood and strut bar already jsut worried about the other particulars matching up. Most of the info I find in search is like what the op is asking.

/\ I bet a 3.5HR would be pretty close to a drop-in if you had all the supporting stuff that goes with it... Not sure it'd be worth the hassle though when you can build a DE much easier, with more variety of parts, and have a stronger motor than an HR.

The DE's are more mature in their life cycle than the HR, and there's a lot more support & experience out there for the DE than the HR. I wouldn't want to be stuck with an ailing HR just for that reason... A 3.7HR would be nice on the other hand.
