SPEC clutch
Has anyone here, used their clutches? I was thinking about getting the stage 2 clutch. But a friend of mine told me they aren't good. I do plan on going F/I in the near future, just in case if anyone was wondering why i would want a higher torque capacity clutch. Oh yeah DD is pretty much the main goal. so no 6-puck for me
I don't know how they are on the Z, but I had a Stage 2 (Kevlar disc) on my 3000GT VR4.
I really liked the pedal feel, and it grabbed well, and held the power I was running (probably about 320ft-lbs at the flywheel).
Downsides were that it would start to slip after hot lapping at the track a few times (like 3 runs in a row), but letting it cool for 15-30 mins allowed it to run fine again. I hear this is actually typical of kevlar but I don't actually know first hand. Do keep in mind that I was doing AWD launches at like 5-6000 rpm, feathering the clutch, etc. Never slipped on the street or anything from just hard driving.
Also, I did actually break the pressure plate when power shifting (decided it was probably a bad idea, after that, hahah). It broke one of the main levers (not sure of the technical term - the throwout bearing moves the center hub, that moves the levers, which actually move the friction surface), so only like 5/6's of the clutch would actually release.
However, they replaced it with no questions asked, AND sent me a new disc as well! I strongly recommend them based on that alone.
Also, they seem to have a great reputation with the mustang guys.
Oh and can't forget the obligatory answer to all questions on this forum: YOUR QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED BEFORE, DO A SEARCH!1!!!!1!1!!1one!1!

I also don't know about them for the Z but I put a Spec Stage 2+ in my Cobalt SS/SC. It is also the Carbon/Kevlar variety. It was a little on chattery side but nothing to severe. It held up to 90+ passes down the strip plus 46K miles and was still gripping great when I got rid of the car. I thought it was a pretty good clutch. I will agree with absurdparadox, After a few hot laps it would slip like hell, but after cool down was good as new again.
