Default New Clutch question!!!!Cant get into 5th gear!!!

So here's the story:
I got my ACT racing clutch replaced yesterday, and when I picked up my car this morning. I can feel that the clutch is really soft, I mean really really soft compare to the OEM clutch( kinda like corolla soft). Doesn't the ACT racing clutch suppose to fit tighter than the OEM clutch??
Also there is another problem, you guys know when you want to put into 5th gear, you are suppose to put it to the right and push up right?? So when I try to put it into 5th gear today , it wont go in....you need to push really hard to put it in, or push like 0.5 inch away from the right. The guy told me that maybe it's the brand new clutch?? He call me to get used with it, or change the gear box...I am like WTF?? He called me to drive for a few days first, if there is anything bring it back in...

So is it normal after changing the clutch???
Please Help!!!

its because whomever installed your clutch didn't line the base plate up correctly for the shifter

as for the soft pedal, I can't answer that - it feels very similar to an 03 OEM clutch IMHO. Later Z's have softer pedals than the early 03/early 04's

Drive the car for a couple of hundred miles. The engagement point may change. Not sure about the rest.

I agree with Z1 Performance. The base plate is not aligned properly.

I would return to the installer and ask that they re-align the base plate ASAP. It should be an easy fix.

I wouldn't drive the car this way since doing this will result in unusual wear when shifting into 5th gear. Avoid shifting into 5th gear until you get the base plate realigned.

EDIT: The soft feel on your clutch pedal is not a bad thing (unless it really bothers you). I’m sure you will grow accustomed to this within a few hours of driving. In fact most drivers prefer this feel, and the reason Nissan changed this in later model Z’s.

I wouldnt assume anything - but probably pays to ask the shop to rebleed the clutch (might want to change to a stainless clutch line while you're in there too) when they fix the base plate
