It should be CD009. As for its limits, there's a drag race car with it doing 9s (and soon 8s) completely untouched. However, many have broken certain gears due to improper handling of it.

^^ Just to be clear and make sure you understand robbie, it's not 100% stock. Don't go thinking you can have 900whp and not touch anything else. The clutch they mated to it is like $2,500 IIRC. CD009 is the most updated transmission with the least amount of issues (3rd generation 350z transmission, I believe). Although I didn't think '06's had CD009's, but I'm sure 3hree5ive0ero would know better than me.

When he asked about the transmission, I thought he meant strictly the transmission aspects of it - so I didn't even think about the flywheel, clutch, fluids, etc.

I'm almost certain that CD009 was already out or was released with the 2006 Zs, but don't quote me on that one.

Yea i already have redone the clutch with a stage 2+ and im not HP hungry i have other cars for that. but i just dont like having a 30G car getting owned by a 10G car.. 400-450 is plenty for me if someone still owns me thats okay ill be happy. (always going to be someone out there faster than you. but at least you can narrow the margins a little.)

You got that right, there will always be somebody faster than you. Hell my GF's new Sentry with that crappy CVT could probably keep within a few car lengths of my Z in a straight line! <--(Ok slight exaggeration, LOL) Need to get the Z paid off so I can afford some FI.

I haven't heard many bad things about the CD009 other than people complaining about a soft pedal feel. They seem to have worked out a lot of the synchro issues with the earlier tranny versions.

i have a CD009 in my 05 base model
its actually really easy to tell if u have the 009 or not. there was an old thread earlier this year, guy found out you can take a digi camera, stick it under your suspension near the passenger front tire and point it up and snap a pic of the sticker. i verified my tranny as 009 using this method. works well. i can post the pics if anyone is interested

You can also crawl underneath your car and see the code on the side of the tranny.

I'm on my 3rd transmission and I asked for CD009 the last time I had it replaced, but was given CD007. I don't have complaints, though.

All of them look the same on the outside. Crawl underneath your car and find the code. It'll tell you which one you have. Pics won't get you anything.

it should, only way to tell is to look though. dang pics got deleted from the camera. basically point the camera up towards the catalytic converters and it may a take a few tries but you are looking for a small white sticker looking thing that has a barcode and will have the tranny number on it real big in black.

The latest CD009's are actually quite strongly, especially for street driving, and road course use. With aggressive drag racing style shifts, and certain movements, you can break the synchros. The previsou versions of transmissions were more more prone to grinding and broken sychros.

my 009 sounds like crap, though it is very intermittent. it is worlds better than my original which was actually embarrassing to drive with due to the noise.
