Default UR Underdrive Pulley Install

Hey folks,

Due to some legal complications from earlier this summer my list of mods until Christmas got really, really short. One of the few things I have had the time to bother with is the UR Pulley (not the set, just the main one).

I installed it Saturday morning on a friend's lift (made things a lot easier). I am continually amazed at how cramped our engine bay is, and yet how easy it is to work on once you really get into it! We did a severe amount of dicking around, and it took us little more than an hour to put the pulley on. I am guessing if we hadn't farted around for so long it would have taken about 30-40 minutes. I couldn't believe how heavy the stock one was after we got it off! DAMN!

The only two difficult parts of this install:

-Getting the factory pulley off. It took a LOT of effort and a humungous breaker bar to get it off. It didn't take long, just a lot more muscle than we anticipated.

-After wrapping it up, adjusting the tensioners was a little sketchy. I'm pretty sure we got this right (I hope!), but it was interesting to experiment with. It doesn't slip at all though.

After getting it on and being immensly relieved the car didn't explode when I turned the engine over, I messed around with it a little bit. The engine seems to be more free-revving than it already is stock. The needle rises and drops faster, if you understand what I mean. Other than that, the gains are negligble according to butt dyno. I am not really dissapointed since I wasn't hoping for 20rhp (ricer horsepower). I have noticed that by the numbers my car does accelerate faster and everything, but there doesn't seem to be any additional "kick" to it -- at least yet. The instructions mention something abour 3-5 days for max gain adjustment. We'll see.

More than anything it was a fun car project/misadventure to end my summer with. I highly recommend this to anyone with access to a jack, for someone like me who is learning about cars this is an easy confidence booster and is not much harder than attatching a grounding kit

One last thing: thanks to ravaz for the great price

I have had my entire pulley set now for three months and still no kick yet. I saw were sport Z magazine dynoed it and 3-4 rwhp ( I think its pretty good). I have been very happy with it and like you said it does seem to rev faster.

I was reading somewhere thayt since it is across the entire power band, there is no way to feel the additional "kick".
