Got a built trans and I cannot get the trans to go into park.
The shift rod is about 1/2-3/4" too short to reach the rod that comes down from the shifter. I can even still rotate the driveshaft with the trans in (what I believe should be) park. Is that normal? Does this trans need power and fluid to lock into park? I believe I have a problem though, because the shifter rod should still reach the shifter and it doesnt. Can anyone help me?

Well for anyone following this here is what I posted on my thread on G35.
Ok guys.... believe it or not I figured out the problem and was able to fix it. Here is a pic I took before I fixed it. If you notice the stud on the shift arm is not inside the plunger. I was able to take loose the plunger and get the stud back in the lunger seat and WHALAAA, the trans goes into park and works like it should. But I will say this, the trans showed up on my door like this, which tells me the previous owner must have had issues with it.
