I had one also
it worn out in less than 7months and 6,000 miles
only three drag racing passes
learning the car again but with Twin turbos
and ive been driving stick for 5years and drag for 1 before the clutch install
Now i went with a different company and haven't had any problems my Z makes the same amount of power as before, i have been taking it to the strip more often, and ive put way more miles on it than the Z1 clutch
Something is truly fishy about that

we are working with Z1 on the matter and they have put us in touch with the Manufacture directly now. I can not reveal that manufactures name, but I am dealing directly with them now and things are begining to move forward. I hate to say it but it seems that Z1 is just a bystandard in the matter of the clutch. Although they sold it to me as their name brand product. They were completly helpful after I spoke with the owner.
It seems that there is a difference in the clutch from 2007 to the ones they have now per teh manufacture. So if you bought one recently it is definitly a better clutch than the ones that a few of us purchased back in 2007.

I had been in contact with them for a month before I posted this. This was not out of one visit or one phone call. It took talking to the owner at the end that got things fully moving today.
Let me know whatever i can do to help.......i gave those guys alot of money
Tho
After reading the your last post and on the other forum it seems its not there fault directly
But they sure haven't contacted nobody to make things right.....or even half right!
Sadly, i like some of those dudes there.....they seemed like better ppl to do business with than most.

I just got off the phone with the manufacture and they have credited me a fair percentage of the value of the clutch back. There are still some unknowns as to why the clutch was giving the particular symptoms, but since the manufacture doesn't even sale this part anymore and are now making a part that is well known and used, finding the issue down to the minusha may be unprofitable. They now know it was the clutch but the "why" will have to come later if at all.
Z1 is now definitly selling a part that is definitly a part that you want in your car with out any worries. Trust me when I say that the newer clutch that they sell whether the 6puck or the disk is hands down a great clutch. They no longer sell the EXACT model that I purchased.

To add a little bit to all of this, the OP had a clutch kit that was of a previous design and used a 3rd party pressure plate. The plate was not made by Z1 or by our current clutch builder. It was sourced from a major, international supplier of clutch parts (think purple) and was coupled with a disc from our clutch builder, these were used while a new and further upgraded pressure plate was being developed.
I spoke at length today with the engineer who designs, tests, and approves all of our current clutch designs. He personally tested the clutch that came from the OP's car and found it to still have 2400 lbs of clamping force and have sufficient air gap at working travel. In other words, it tested ok, and he seemed confident that it was still a good working piece, however for whatever reason it did not work in the OP's car. As a reasult, they have agreed to make concessions to the OP in that case and have worked that out between them.
Our current clutches do not use that plate at all and this particular case does not reflect upon the product we offer now, as the part in question here dates back to a 2007 design and we no longer use 3rd party parts. All of our current clutch kits are manufactured, tested, and packaged in one facility and shipped to us for distribution.

thanks for the update Bryan! This is what the manufacture told me as well. Still unsure as to what may be wrong, but we were in agreeance that the clutch had something other than what the normal testing procedures could show. Either way we are all squared up now and you can be confident with this product that is being sold now!
^^bought off^^ J/K
That's why I hate frankenstein clutches. It always scares me when someone says they have one brands clutch and anothers pressureplate or stock pressure plate. They are not designed like that and should not be used in such a fashion if at all possible.
