I have noticed my Z's automatic trans is different than other car's I have driven. Is there anyway to get the Z to use 2nd gear when pulling out on a slick road?

 

I've always wondered about the same thing but I don't think it can be done. It would definitely come in handy. Maybe there's a way to somehow modify the ECU settings to allow the shift to 2nd without the car moving...

 

Unfortunately Nissan [JATCO] tried this on 90-92 Q45 as a full time function unless WOT, it was dropped in 93 due to too much AT damage, never to be seen again.
After 2004 the TCU was moved inside the AT case so harder to get to now.

 

Aw that sucks. Could have really come in handy today. Doesn't the GTR allow you to start in second?
