Hey guys, I know a lot of us are running some sort of oil catch can in our Z. My question is what kind of rubber hose are you guys using?

I got the Greddy catch can and the hose that come with it gets kind of soft and some section of the hose become pinched under the heat and pressure. You can also hear some whistling noise after driving the car for a while.

Then I switch to GoodYear fuel injector hose, it seems to be stronger...but it still become pinched (not as much compared to Greddy hose) from the heat and pressure.

So, I just want to know if these are better rubber hose out there that would work better....or.....this is normal for using rubber hose?

I went online to JEG'S and got some quality braided line and it has worked so far.

Just go pick up some braided line at a speed shop.

9mm braided is what I used on mine instead of the garden hose crap that came with the can.

I used to use this silicone hose with internal support but it collapsed. My cousin gave me a fuel line i think and its holding up well.

I had some rubber hose on mine and when the engine bay got warm it lost its rigidness and got kinked. I changed to braided stainless lines for ~$20 and it works perfectly.

AN stands for "Air Force-Navy Aeronautical Standard" and was an aviation fitting standard developed around WWII

To expand on that......

The AN size standard nomenclature goes by 1/16" of an inch. It measures the inner diamter of the AN hose. So a -3 AN is 3/16" of an inch. -4 AN is 4/16" aka 1/4".

And it is pronounced "Dash 3, A, N."

Don't walk up to the parts counter like a noob and say I need "Negative 3, an." LOL

Fuel line or heater hose are both good alternatives to the fountain drink machine hose that's become "JDM" style. If you are getting kink's in your hose you're trying to bend too small of a radius into the hose. Find a way to route the hose better so it doesn't kink.

^ yes, probably the best and cheapest way. Braided stainless looks great and works perfect just a bit more expensive.

It is a hard(ish) rubber hose with the cloth reinforcing or whatever in the rubber. Hasn't collapsed, and hard to squeeze shut with your fingers as well..

Not exactly the same size. -6 AN is close to 5/16" I.D. whereas -8 AN is closer to 3/8" I.D. hose. PCV system hose is another alternative is made for oil vapor usage and is strong enough to not collapse unless it gets kinked.

Sounds like fuel injection hose, it's pretty sturdy stuff.
