Default Clutch for pivot ball

can this be changed without removing the tranny? I bought an aftermarket one and it was the wrong length and i didnt notice until it was to late and now i cant go into gear. seems as if i might be able to pull the fork boot and maybe get in there. has anyone done this?

my friend did his last week , he had to remove the tranny. After the 3rd time that week (other problems) it can easily be done in 1.5 hours.
