i agree with kgb. originally my thought was that the ecu doesnt cut power to mods, so when i reset the ecu, i wasnt expecting much. my thinking was that of psychological influence. i was surprised that the difference was very noticeable. not everyone falls for the placebo effect. i'm still wondering though the role of the ecu with aftermarket mods.
in the various TS ecu threads, i think chebosto mentioned that TS found a value/factor in the stock ecu programming that tries to return engine performance back to factory standards. i'm not sure on this as i dont recall the thread specifically.
anyways, too early (and too poor
) to do anything now. i will still wait for nismo's official launch in a couple of months, but i seriously doubt an ecu will be on the list.

I had app. 10 whp gain on the day I had new y-pipe, straight pipe, and Magnaflow exhaust installed. The shop built a few more y-pipes to compare, and when we retested the whp was back where it started. Just gave up with further development at that point; haven't tried to reset the ECU though.
I have dynoed after each mod I put on the car and got gains each time. My last dyno I was 16rwhp and 15rwtq higher than the stock dyno, this is over a period of 4-5 months. The ECU obviously didn't detune or negate the mods, if it had I wouldn't have gotten the numbers I did.

Whats the link to the website? I couldn't be able to get the Nismo ECU at all with the S-tune S1 engine in my car though... that is why I am running MoTeC... Nismo only sells the ECU out IF they do the engine conversion in Japan.... how crap is that?!

What kind of gas do you use? I use 93 octane and the car always runs strong. I hear people stuck in places where they only have access to 91 octane have more ECU issues if they get a "bad" 91 octane. I dont think this car was really meant to run on anything other than 93 or above and so when running on 91 you need a quality 91 or you risk the ECU pulling timing.

As to you feeling this change, it is probably more psychological than anything else. A few weeks after driving your modded car, you will get used to the change and will forget what the car felt like without the mods.
