What is this and where do you get it and will it pass US emissions?

If your mods significantly disrupt the air:fuel ratio from what the ECU has programmed in order to meet the ULEV emissions criteria, and/or keep the engine safe, it will regulate other parameters to compensate. Whether or not this translates to a loss in power depends on the specifics of the mods and combination of mods.

As to you feeling this change, it is probably more psychological than anything else. A few weeks after driving your modded car, you will get used to the change and will forget what the car felt like without the mods.

Excellent post.

i didn't believe it either until a dealer re-set my ecu to get rid of the cel light. i wasn't expecting anything and didn't even think anything of it. but the difference was substantial. i have intake/exhaust. now i reset it once a week. yes it make a difference. read what technosqueare has to say about it on their web site. i only started looking into this question AFTER that incident so i wasn't imagining it.

Every week , that would get old fast. Does a full ts flash help if you have little to no mods? I know you have the rev raised to 7100 RPM but would it improve a stock engine meaning give it more power?

TS can give you some more aggressive timing/fuel mappings than stock

you might still have to reset the ECU on a somewhat regular basis though.....I do

Buy a Digimoto scan tool. About $200. Can do a whole bunch of diagnostic stuff with a laptop as well as resetting your ECU

Have one? I've been looking for other Z owners that may have one of these to compare some numbers with. If anyone else has one and wants to compare some numbers PM me. Most interested in comparing idle and WOT data logs for timing values and MAF/O2 voltages.

There is... only if you send your engine back to Japan and have the Nismo S-tune Concept Engine Spec 1 installed BY NISMO ONLY, then it will come with a nismo ecu and probably you will have problem with the local fuel again (at least that's the case to Australia)... You can get MOST of the parts in the engine package separately, but not certain parts which include ECU.

cheers,

richie
