Default Decel hesitatation while coasting down in gear

Just wondering if this is normal or not...but say when I'm coasting down in rpm with car in 2nd or 3rd with the throttle position full off (foot completely off gas), the car will go into a routine where it coasts freely, then hesitates for a couple seconds, then coasts freely again. It sort of feels like the car has an exhaust brake that keeps flipping itself off/on. If I feather in a little throttle it doesn't do it, but it's just kind of annoying to have the car lurching around like that and wanted to know if that was normal or not...

What rpms?

My car will let me coast down to about 1500rpms and then the motor starts firing again. At that point i do feel a bit of change in the coasting style but not much. It also does something similar when i left of the gas......initial blip and then the car just coast.

yeah, the car is stock, and basically brand new. It has about 400 miles on it now.

Not sure if it's RPM dependent, but it's usually somewhere in the 2500-3000 range when I notice it. Normal?

to get better emissions and fuel economy, nissan's ecu shuts off the injectors on decel. you can see it on an A:F gauge. it'll peg the gauge (lean) when you let off the throttle.

That sounds like it. Figured it was normal behaivior but was just kind of hunting around for an explanation to it. Thanks.
