I got a chance to ride in Mossy Nissan’s 350Z which is NA - 282rwhp.

When getting my Z serviced over the weekend at Mossy, I struck up a conversation with Frank, one of the parts dealers there. He mentioned to me that the Z dynoed up to 287 to the wheel. He mentioned to me the new mods . Once I move to my new job I plan to get some work done there ahem... Borla Headers and Exhaust)

Yeah, you are sitting right there at 300 rwhp with a couple of other mods to this car. Finally, after all of this time, we can see a way to have 300 NA rwhp. I would prefer for it to be a lot cheaper, as the cams are probably the most expensive of these mods on this car.
You would probably need the plenum and test pipes to get to 300 rwhp, but really you are talking like $4500-$4800. For that money, you could easily go with the procharger or any other SC that comes out. And that is not talking installation of any of these parts.
We knew NA was more expensive, but it is durable. Now, I am of the opinion that FI is safe on this engine, IF the A/F ratio is tuned right. So to each is own as to your particular choice.
BTW, the Borla headers really make me wonder what kind of power is coming from them.

ecu? wow this is cool.

Another member here, Juztin, has a similar combination of JWT pop, nismo headers, borla dual exhaust, but with plenum and test pipes and pulled a SAE corrected 301 rwhp (240 @ 5680 elevation and 102'F temperature). He mentioned he's getting cams and pulleys soon, hopefully he'll do some more dyno runs somewhere closer to sea level.
It's great that we're beginning to idenfity what really makes power. Soon we'll be able to develop a true tested stage system for mods once we get a few more setups like this. The aftermarket for the Z is really hitting puberty...

Wow, dyno'ed at 301hp with no cams, ECU upgrade, or pulleys! I assume 240hp at that elevation translate to 301 at sea level as you stated. If it does, I did not realize it lost that much. Do you know what his baseline/stock hp was?
It sounds like Justin might have less money into his set up than the mossy Z. Installing those cams is quite a labor fee. I am starting to wonder if this might be a nice route to go as we wait for the FI to get the kinks worked out. In the mean time, I could have reliable hp that might translate to even greater hp when FI is added. 301hp is not where i want my car to end up at but when I got in that 282 hp Z, it sure was a lot more fun than a stock one.
I think i will try to contact Justin to see how much it cost to have a set up like his. His dyno specs speaks volumes!

why the borla headers mossey, they're not equal length. Would othe nismo headers with the borla exhaust have given alot more hp?
Its all about going N/A and keeping your warrenty for the most part. Id rather get around 300whp with boltons and get a small 45/65shot of nitrous then a supercharger. Id have my daily driveability, warrenty (always can remove the nitrous kit) and the serious hp when i need it.

damn, with all these posts havin good things to say about borla, i find myself at every corner savin up for my dual exhaust. i would say if u r stickin with n/a, the borla exhaust should b the way to go. it's been competin good against the rest on stock setups, and i don't think it'll change the wilder u get. the h-pipe is good for high-end hp; it's what most muscle cars use. the headers have me a little indecisive, but stickin with the same company for your exhaust and headers seens very practical. time will tell; definitely before i have enough dough for headers .

GregV sells both Nismo and Borla at Mossy and thinks the Borla is superior. I was surprized by that considering most Nissan delaers would be biased towards NISMO but then again most dealers do not track their cars like he does.

For me, money is an important issue. I am holding off on a cam because I will most lily go FI and I want a CAM that will be best for that set up.

I would be interested to see if the cam runs really radical or not.
Wow, if you can get 25hp gain from that Cam, add 17-20hp for the Borla header/exhaust combo and with two mods were up to 42-45hp gain assuming you can add them together. Even if it is 40, that is good!

By bumping up the idle rpm 100-200 rpm's and adding a couple of degrees of timing the situation with the rougher idle is cured. Just have the dealer make the changes with the Consult II. This is what they have to do even for the Nismo's.
