Guys
I want to paint my valve covers since the new eng is going in soon and now is the time to do it.
I need some help on paint and color selection. These covers are some sort of plastic and subject to heat of course but how much heat I have no idea. My Local body shop recommend that I get a special primer coat shot on these to make sure that the paint sticks so thats where they are today.
My car is a Black ZR with Burnt orange seats. I was thinking of painting them Orange to keep the Burnt orange seat theme or Red to match the Fuel Reg. from CJM. (my family members say Orange
)
What I can find is a High tem Eng enamel in a spray bomb but the closest Orange is Hemi Orange.
Opinions on this Hemi orange vs the Bright red? Would a normal enamel paint
be ok or should this be a high temp?
To add to the look I have the APS Plenum powder coated black with the APS logo polished. The front timing cover is also powder coated black with the two cam covers in chrome.
Thanks,

That Eng looks Hot! Maybe I should do Red?
I just read/skimmed the entire thread but did not see what type/brand of paint was used, very interesting NA thread though.

I picked up the covers from the local body shop today.
They de-greased them for me even though I did a pretty good job cleaning before hand. Then they masked and shot them with a coat of Sikens ALL Plastic Primer. They were finally baked at about 170 deg F. All for $50 bucks cash so not to bad if you ask me.
The masking is still on so all I have to do is give them a good once over with the 3M scotch pad and thn clean before final paint.
The body shop is still recomending I use a high temp paint. I am siding on the red because I have not been able to find a high temp paint in Burnt orange and I'm not really sure how a Hemi Orange will look in the end.
Some pics of the covers primed and masked

Crap.... I took all the masking off and I plan on taking these to the shop tomorrow to get installed. If I can find that clear tomorrow I might hold them back one day or get Sasha to clear them for me at the shop.
