Rear o2 Sensors Needed?
I'm trying to clean up some of the DTC codes (CELs) in my NA G35.
During my last oil change, I noticed that my drivers side rear o2 sensor is completely missing. The wideband sensor from my AutoMeter o2 gauge is plugged in the opening that the o2 sensor would normally be plugged into.
I realize that the second o2 sensor only determines if the catalytic converter is working properly, but I thought it was required.
I also thought the o2 wideband sensor for a gauge was supposed to go before the catalytic converter, not after it?
I get the following three DTC's every time I drive my car:
P0057 - Heated oxygen sensor 2 heater control circuit low. Since this is also on the drivers side, could the circuit not be complete because the rear o2 sensor is missing?
P0300 - Multiple cylinder misfire. This could be because of the cams I have.
P0327 - Knock sensor circuit low input. I'm not sure what makes up the knock sensor circuit. I don't know if piston slap could cause this. As soon as I try to turn this off in Cipher (while the motor is runnng) it comes right back on.
So, I'm trying to figure out what to do. I bought a new o2 rear drivers side sensor and plan to install it. I guess for the time being, I'll just wire-tie the AutoMeter wideband sensor under the car.
Does this seem like the right way to go?

P300 is normal for any built motor and will prob never be completely gone. P0057 is prob becasue of your o2 sensor and the knock senor I'm not really sure about. I have an extra one if you wanna swap it out sometime. Check the connection first, it's under the lower collector.

I'm going to remove the wideband sensor and install a standard o2 sensor in its place.
Doesn't the wideband sensor normally go before the catalytic converter?
I've read a lot about the knock sensor DTC P0327. A lot of people seem to replace them without fixing the problem. Could the piston slap of my JE pistons be causing the P0327?.

I'm not sure if there is a knock sensitivity setting on the haltech. Do you hear anything out of the ordinary?
