Default Autozone Deal: German Castrol + K&N Filter $30

I went to my local Autozone here in WI to buy some German Castrol 0w-30 for the Z, and low and behold, it's on sale. 5 qts + K&N filter for $30. So I bought 10 quarts, and they are shipping in one more filter since they only had one. The only bad thing is that the K&N 1008 filter is the same size as the OEM one. Lately I've been running the longer Mobile 1 M1-110. But hell, for this price, I'll run the smaller one. I believe it expires sometime around April 11th, but I'm not sure.

Just figured I would let you guys know, as someone else posted a similar deal last year that saved me a lot of money. Just repaying the favor.

Sorry if this is a repost, or I posted it in the wrong place.

Not sure if they carry the German Castrol though, as it used to be only at Autozone.

anyone know if this deal is going on in So Cal?... I can never find the German Castrol anywhere and when I called local store the guy never heard of it - they have a deal with K&N filter with normal Castrol Syntech...

Where can I find the German?

Thanks to basicblack, I realized the 1010 will fit just fine - it's just a little longer. It's just like Mobile1 filters then, since the M1-110 is usually the one I use.

The German Castrol is still a 30 weight oil. The weight classification is determined based on viscosity of the oil and it is a range of numbers. If you look at M1, it's a very thin 30 weight since it's on the low end of that range for that classification, close to a heavy 20 weight. German Castrol is almost a 40 weight but still in the 30 weight range. You can have 2 oils that may appear to be of same viscosity level in weight numbers but devil's in the details.

FYI, German Castrol does not have a fuel efficiency certification that other synthetics have. Last time I ran it, I saw immediate drop in MPGs, about 2-3mpg. I switched it out and my economy returned to normal levels. I did this twice to make sure it wasn't just me driving the car harder. Both times, I registered immediate and noticeable drop in my gas economy. It does protect well though. Personally, I don't care that much about economy but don't be shocked if you see the same.

FYI the 'bigger filter' is just the filter from the Titan. So if you're forced to switch brands on the filter and don't know the number for the larger one, you can look it up that way.
