4.08 gears change, Is it worth it to change the Factory LSD
Hi i have a 03 track pack and Going to do, 4.08 gear set. What i am cant decide if i should change the factory LSD or will the factory one will do the job. And if i do change it to The Cusco Type RS LSD. What is the difference i will notice.
Thanks
Thanks
I dont track the car but some times i do drive aggressive around corner and straightaways.
Is it worth it to do the after market Lsd.
Will the Factory lsd handle the 4.08 gears or will the back end be all over the road.
Thanks

I don’t see how the two are related. What are you trying to achieve by changing the final drive? The purpose and benefits of limited slip differential is a well discussed subject.
Even then the clutch type LSDs aren't zero maintenance parts, and do require eventual rebuilds due to the wearing of the clutch packs. If it isn't a track car, and you planned to replace the diff anyway, the Quaife, albeit a bit more expensive, is a good alternative. I believe they make an application for VLSD cars now. It comes with a lifetime warranty and doesn't require rebuilds like clutch-type LSDs, only fluid changes(but that applies to all LSDs).
If an LSD isn't on your list of future upgrades, just do the gear, you won't regret it.

Well, my factory LSD does not want to lock anymore after 4 track events and some skid pads. The high heat during cornering and drifting caused the silicon fluid inside breaks down. It really ruined the fun for my last track event. So if you have the $, and willing to do a lot of track events. I will suggest changing to aftermarket LSD together with the gear.
