Default What brand GAUGES do you like and why?

There are so many brands for gauges out there.

Greddy
HKS
Autometer
Defi
Power Enterprise
Apex'i
BL/TZ
VDO
Pivot

Which brand do you prefer and why?

I'm leaning towards Defi and Autometer if I ever need any.

Also, electronic or mechanical?

Thanks,
Victor

Autometer. They have been around the longest, are used in every racing genre imaginable except maybe the Olympics but I am not positive, they were used in your pappy's hot rod lincoln, my pappy's hot rod chevy and in dr bonz's hot rod ford when he was our age 50 years ago. Also, they are the least ricey and are pretty much the standard in gauges. Sort of like Xerox and copiers or Microsoft and monopolies. They are just the best example of their industry. Autometer = gauges.

Electronic gauges are safer and easier to install. Mechanical gauges are on their way out, partially because something like a malfunctioning oil pressure gauge could send that scalding hot engine oil right into your face.

Defi BF - one of the nicest you can get (though admittedly pricey). Plus you get it with the control uinit - full peak hold, full real time playback, very nice.

Autometer is a double edged sword - some of them are great, some are junk...to me, the idea of an Autometer gauge in a higher end Japanese sports car just does not seem right....could be just me though

**HKS – Very clean look, which is not cluttered…very simple design, easy to read, some gauges have warning lights.
**Greddy –Nice looking gauges, some with warring lights. Simple to read, very simple
**Autometer – Nice gauges, good price, they don’t look bad at all. The air/fuel gauge is garbage.
**Defi – Nice big numbers, simple design which looks really good.
**Power Enterprise – looks kind of cheap
**Blitz – Nice gauges, some have funky colors, but these look really good when they are light up.
**Apex – large numbers, looks like most gauges on the market.
**VDO – gauges have the old school look
**Pivot – Lots of colors, simple design, big numbers
**Tenzo – Nice gauges and they don’t cost much at all.

Out of all I have to say I like Defi gauges and then Blitz.

If your worry about price I say look at Tenzo or Autometer.

I think most are Pillar gauges, you just need to find out the size of them to see if they will fit in the Pillars that are available

Cool, thanks.

I've got factory nav, so no mounting there.

Gotta find somewhere else.

When I do get FI, I wanna mount gauages right above where the stock CPU, oil pressure and voltage meters are. I would also like to conform to the look of the guages as well. IE analoug gages with the surrounding aulminum lip and encasement. I would ideally like; boost, and air intake temp but will have to see when I do get around to that point. I figure if their aint a guage kit out that conforms to the look fo the stock pillar and mounts right above it so you'll have 2 & 3 guages rather than just 3, then I'll make one!

I dont think pivot has what I am looking for, or maybe they do
If I was wanting to change the color of my stock gauges, would I have to change the entire gauge, or is there a simple light bulb.
Does anyone know if there is anything like an indiglo gauge on the market for the tack, speedo, etc
